getting in and switching off the alarm is easy ! its a known fault on VW's! breaking the steering lock a five minute job, but getting it to start is the hard bit! your in, the steering wheel works....so you push it off the drive, hook it up and tow it away to work on later.... factory fit alarms suck, just like me.

check out the anti roll bars while your at it, iirc the 'sports' models had a thicker one, swapping these out will help remove a little of the wallow through the curves :)

Hearing Water. Drain Is Ok.
mk2vr6 replied to Pemo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
not to bad! changed jobs, changed cars, well killed my scooby! bike collection is getting bigger :) wallet lighter! only found the site again after i fired up an old lappy and tranfered a few fave across to my new one, so though I'd pop in and annoy the Tdi owners :) do you still get a pipe rack if you prove you can hit 50mpg? and a set of slippers if you do it three times? -
you cant! the switch os operated by a pin on the selector mech, this rubs on the switch and wears a groove in the switches softer plastic surface, you can try spacing the pin out a touch by adding a washer to it and increasing its length but this is only a tempary fix you have to take the switch out so you may as well just bite the bullet and replace it while your there

Hearing Water. Drain Is Ok.
mk2vr6 replied to Pemo's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
from your description I'd go for the classic scuttle drains, but as you say its not? then I'm out! no greggers that's not out like you :bigemo_harabe_net-149: its a mk2 so check the trim panels around the lower screen, wiper region for water leakage and see its under there? -
yes, IIRC most alhambras came with sports suspension, which consisted of uprated shocks and lowering springs, that also IIRC you were not able to buy as replacement parts over the counter!

13 Years Old And Still Going Strong
mk2vr6 replied to seatkid's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
13 Years Old And Still Going Strong........ I was expecting a Jimmy Saville joke not some old fart going on his mpg figures.... -
majority of people on here are oil burner lovers, you'll find them most nights in the bar on the corner cuddling their half of shandy discussing their latest mpg figures while discussing the latest episode of the archers  check the condition of the air hose from the throttle body to the airbox, take it off and check for splits and holes? if there are any? the maf will be being bypassed and the management system wont get a true reading!

Addison Lee Selling Galaxys For A Good Price?
mk2vr6 replied to spangled's topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
Addison Lee... http://ww.pingerati.net/business/article/addison-lee-chairman-condones-knocking-cyclists/ enough said as for the cars? well its a ford galaxy and not a real one :) -
plugged in my old laptop and found the link in the faves list! have now deleted it so wont be around again... but yeah this place is dead! would the last one out switch out the lights and cancel the milk :P but with only one active mod with limited powers and no sign of the admin team unless anything goes wrong this site will die a slow lingering death! other forums that cater to this vehicle are either sections on bigger forums that have the through put to keep them going or are membership only viewing jobs(fgoc) the lack of activity can be put down to seasonal dips, people popping in and finding the answer to their question and then moveing on till they need answers again, old members selling up and moveing on, older members with attitude scareing off the newbies! :46: new members with attitude pissing off the old guard! other sites poaching members!and articles! at the end of the day sites grow stale and people move on and the site closes, its the way of the net things have been tried to bolster the sites activity, national meets and regional meets, but this is a family car at the end of the day used by people to ferry kids about, meets are where other car clubs go to show off their cars, not say here's where little jonny puked and here's the alloy the wife kurbed last week, its a work horse and the majority of owners have enough trouble keeping it going yet alone throw cash at to chav it up.....says the man who slammed his into the ground :D so either let it die and move on, or in the words of one of my many alias's on here ...shut the f@#k up and quit moaning bitch  you all play nice now :P

tbh this site died when they allowed female members in and added them to the admin team :46: ooops that me banned again ......

Galaxy V6 Auto Wont Start
mk2vr6 replied to pkrocks's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
it's in the car on top of the box so to speak, its operated by the selector lever undo the screw holding on the T shifter, lift it clear and then pop out the selector display and there it is :D IIRC there is an adjuster bolt/nut set up that you can adjust if need be? but you could just short out the switch to check its operation -
site still slow as f##k, errors messages when pages wont open/time out, using the search function is a joke! 200 items and 8 pages, the same topic repeated by the number of replies it got! and random topics thrown in! where's the restore button?
-
dealer only part unless you can find a set in a breakers? easy to replace, they dont really fail or need replaceing that often! normally they just get blocked or gummed up! try sticking a long needle down the hole and wiigling it ;) or if you can get them off? give them a good soak in some hot water and then blow them through with an air line, through the outlet side not the inlet side! and dont forget there are two types, heated and non heated if you go to the dealers, check before you splash the cash ;) mainly to see if you can upgrade to heated ;)

Galaxy V6 Auto Wont Start
mk2vr6 replied to pkrocks's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
there is a starter inhibitor switch on the gear stick, try wriggling it while you turn the key? or you could bypass it and see it that helps? its an easy job to replace the switch if need be? -
manufacturers expected acceptable losses are 60-130g per year  so on a single ac system that gives you around 7 years before the system is totally empty! so yes after three years get it re-gassed, I use to get my Galaxy checked out yearly and as for the fridge comment? a fridge doesnt do 30k+ a year on todays crap roads? a fridge doesnt take the same abuse as your cars ac system or run in such hostile conditions

115 Tdi Surging At Idle
mk2vr6 replied to adie_morris's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
unless its a complete failure the maf wont bring up a code, the system adapts to allow for the gradual degradation of the sensor till it gets beyond the acceptable parameters -
which carrier? thule normally work on 20k per bike on their three bike carriers dropping down to 15kg on the fourth bike when you fit the correct adaptor just remember to load the heaviest bikes nearer to the car, take off anything thats easily removable, pedals, saddles, etc.... to save time rebuilding the bikes wrap a piece of tape around the seat posts to mark the hieght they were set at :( save loads of time messing about trying to get the right hieght again

Strange Holes. What Are They For.
mk2vr6 replied to simb's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Their for storeing the seat belts in when you remove the rear seats, to stop you getting tangled up in them you unclip the belts from the mounts in the floor, allow the belts to retract and clip the loose ends into these holes
