Anyone Fancy Joining Up To Bid?
Saif Rehman replied to gregers's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Count me in, seriously. Even after selling the parts to members here, i'm sure with the remaining parts there could be money to be made if sold individually. So that's one for sure - gregers are you in, better hurry only 2 days and 23hours to go. -
Very strange indeed. :) Tone, did you or the garage that did the oil change by any chance change the coolant/water, if yes, then the coolant/water does take time to settle. I take it there is no water contamination in the oil and vice versa as this would suggest gasket problems, And i assume you have checked that there is no leaks of coolant under the vehicle. EDIT. I see that you have pinpointed the problem.

Hello Brand New Here
Saif Rehman replied to polishrose's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Kasia, welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your stay here and find all your queries answered. Watch out for a few members - i won't name them but they do crop up now and again, but honestly, they are a good bunch. Mum of 5, soon to be 6? Wow, congratulations :) you'll be needing a minibus soon! Oh btw, we have mumof4 here too................mumof6 sounds nice. Back to questions: 1. Has the door been damaged in anyway? Does the door line up properly at the top and sides? I don't know if the door latch is adjustable (too dark to go out and check) Someone here will probably confirm. 2. Sorry, don't know as i drive a diesel. 3. Check tyres for equal wear, pressures, power steering fluid, and belt. 4. Steering wheel juddering at speed suggest warped brake discs. Kasia, has the car been serviced? If not or don't know, can i suggest that you get a competent mechanic to give it a service and thorough check over as you rely on your vehicle to travel with your little ones. -

Well, my air-con comes on automatically along with the heated front screen when i turn the heater dial on hot, air to front windscreen and fan speed switched on to blow.

I see the other site must be struggling for members if they are distributing leaflets in remote parts of sunny but cold Scotland! -
Seatkid - I take it when you say 'millers' as in oil or are you refering to something totally different.

Due to the nature and purpose of the pollen filter, i would personally change the filter every 12 months. Something i found on the internet, so therefore, i cannot/will not take responsiblity for the inaccuracy/discrepencies. :o "Fitting Instructions Where is the pollen filter? centre - passenger side behind centre consule Time to change - approx. 20 minutes Fitting Stage 1:- Remove the centre consule side panel in the passenger footwell. You may need to peel back the carpet slightly to gain less retricted access to the area behind the centre consule where the filter housing is. Fitting Stage 2:- The filter housing has a plastic rectangular access plate secured by screw at the bottom. You may need to partially disassemble ant duct components that obstruct access to this access plate. Once the plate is off the old filter should slide out easily Fitting Stage 3:- Once the plate is off the old filter should slide out easily, as it is designed with a flexible frame allowing it to bend round other components. Fit the new filter and refit the access plate and trim" Hope it helps.

I have personally changed oil on my car in the conventional manner (via sump plug) umpteen times, be it either a diesel or petrol vehicle. The diesel car within a few days goes from a golden syrup to vitually black whilst the petrol car remains a golden colour for a considerable time longer. P.S. Presently, diesel car - Ford Galaxy, petrol car - 1994 Toyota Carina 1.6GLi

Because your engine is falling apart. :o

Ahhh, seems to be a little differences in the pro's and con debate in regards to ecu remapping. I did a little digging into this and found this. I will cut and paste a few lines: "So why should I remap my ECU? When vehicles are distributed throughout the world, manufacturers adopt a one map fits all policy. This one map has to take into account many different factors that are necessary for each export country. Areas such as climate, emissions, fuel quality etc all have to be considered by the manufacturer. What this means is that a vehicle ECU is never optimised for one individual situation." "Please be aware that, although remapping/chipping an ECU does not cause failure it can exasperate already failing components." George, you mentioned that "almost any remap will involve the engine in running beyond its design parameters......" surely any reputable ecu remapper will not allow the car to pass these parameters and that the engine will have some sort of tolerance levels. Please do not think that i endorse/encourage remaps - just that i wanted to see what the general census is before i make my own mind up on this issue of remapping.

Thermostat? Airlock in the system? Could be anything causing the overheating - try doing a search using the 'search' facility and typing in 'overheating'. Unfortunately, looks like a process of elimantion to diagnose the problem. Unless someones pop along with a definitive answer.

Removing Rear Door Panel?
Saif Rehman replied to shanec's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
If indeed it is the rear door panel then click on my signature where it says 'Click here....................' then it is no 4 that you are after. It's for the front door but the procedure is the same. -
Starting Issue
Saif Rehman replied to barachello's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
With the cold weather now upon us it could be the glow plugs. I can't see how it could be the timing if your car has only starting doing this recently. -
gregers, maybe someone stuck a wrong badge on your one! ;) To be honest, i'm confused now......................... ;) ;)

What motor do you have? Diesel or petrol???? -
TDi Silver TD red i = 115bhp Silver TDi but with red outer all the way round = 130bhp All red TDi (no silver) = 150bhp Looks like the previous owner stuck the wrong badge on the tailgate. ;) Increase power? Remap is the only solution bar sticking a bigger engine in but even then, make sure the remap is done by a professional company with a good reputation, guarantee and on a 'trial first' basis.

Mkii Tdi Auto Box Stiking In Gear!
Saif Rehman replied to Grant's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I take it that when you mean "pulling of the drive in the morning" - the car has been sitting all night? If so, all the oil will be cold and sitting at the bottom, once up to a reasonable temperature and running, the oil will have had time to circulate and change gears as normal. My initial thought went to low level oil in the gearbox. Rather than top-it up, change the fluid as i expect that in the lifetime of the car this has not been done. -
Check the wires again, you may have broke a unbroken wire when repairing the wires for the window.
-
I think you have an answered your own question i.e. The plastic impeller in the water pump. Whip it off and check, the impeller could be broken and the shrapnel lodged in the pipes. Temperature at 90 is normal. Once the system is flushed with clean water, stick to one kind of anti-freeze (good brand).

Try eBay - plenty of Galaxies being broken at the moment. Also try searching under VW Sharan and Seat Alahambra but make sure its the pd engine and matches your engine code. Or you could get your old one reconditioned (if repairable) try 'googling' 'turbo reconditioning'.

egr -Exhaust Gas Recirculation. In simple terms it means that it recycles some of the gases back into the engine to get rid of the harmful emissions. Without knowing your vehicle details in full it is pretty hard to tell if its fitted - but the answer will probably be 'yes'. Possible causes for your loss in mpg and other symptoms is that the egr is not operating effeciently at low temperatures, meaning short journeys. It is recommended that at least once a week, the engine is given a good run, with a mix of fast acceleration and high revs (without speeding and red lining). This will in return keep the egr functioning properly.
