paul,you will probably find vw to be cheaper the frauds.as its mostly a vw anyways. read up here, http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...amp;#entry24940 allow quite a bit of time. the faults mean that there have been 5 attempts(flame outs)to start the heater and now it is locked out.not quite sure if you can clear the faults with your version of vag?.

ifne, have you checked that a=the batteries are ok? b=there might be a dry solder on the remote part? c=give it a good clean out it might be gunge up? the key can be cut at timpsons.iirc
