sounds like the switch is fooked, :) ,buy a new 1 iirc about 8-9 quid from vw dealers. then look in the faqs for instructions on how to fit it.

iirc it has been carried out before,im sure there is a detailed post on the subject SOME WHERE ON HERE :) fraid your have to seek it out.

yep a good old fashioned Italian tune up,works wonders for the car,but not for anyone following you,lol

think you need to check for broken wires in the door pillar,do a search very common problem.

there was a wire broken in the rubber boot had this prob before with reversing lights,i joined them back with joining blocks,still no brake lights think you might need to take a closer look again.

just a thought does the high boot light work? if not then it could be the wires in the rubber boot in the hatch,iirc top right hand side.

it sounds like the thread has stripped on either/or so maybe a new nipple will sort it or you might have to tap the thread/s?.

you have any warning lights on the dash? it might need a new brake switch,do a search on the subject been covered numerous times, got mine from vw for about 8 quid i think.

maybe a bit of ptfe tape?

no but the seats do have to fold down,but to be honest if your asking then im assuming you do not have the clips that the shelf sits in???? if you havnt then somewhere on the forum is a detailed post of someone fitting the fitting kit.which is either purchased from the dealers or somewhere like ebay, i too am looking for a fitting kit as i have a shelf sitting in my garage waiting to be fitted.

sounds like 1 of the window clamps has come loose,which in turn might mean the the wire has over run/kinked within the plastic spool within the motor housing. the general consensus on here is that the regulators are not interchangeable between the mk1 and mk2,BUT i do know that the wires are exactly the same size and length,so if you do have to buy another 1 from a scrappy/ebay a mk1 should work fine for the parts you need.

mine do this aswell. always thought it was some kind of basic memory the control module had/has.

friend of mine had this problem,he took it to a dealer and they pretty much said the same thing.
