just aswell you found it,as it could cost a huge ammount to get your car working again, alot of members glue the chip inside the key fob.

whereabouts are you in the south as i have a mk2 towbar in my garage.

well iirc it got around 20mpg around town and only went up a tad on a journey. hence why i soon got shot of it and went down the diesel route but thats another story as it wasnt a galaxy :rolleyes:

hi stumpy welcome to the forum. do a search on here for 2.3 there is lots of info about all the different models that have been asked and responded too over the years,it may still be available to view as the forum has just recently had an upgrade and maybe certain info may have been wiped?? juicy though,i had a 2ltr petrol and that drank it like the missus drinks wine.

chrispy has a mk3 he should be able to give an opinion as with a few others on here,but in my house hold we have 2 smax's with the same engine,only difference is the wifes has 17k on the clock where as i have 105k and i get far better economy out of mine then she does.also mine seems to accelerate better and overall feels faster. i put this down to hers being a newer car and not loose enough. dunno what your mileage is? 1 thing i do know for a cert is they aint no where as good as my old mk2 tdi.

iirc mk2s dont have a dpf fitted. on a mk3 some will some wont,if you know the reg of any car your intrested in take a looksie on the ford etis page for more info. again iirc 1.9 will be mk2 and 2ltr will be mk3 do a general search on here for auto gearbox problems lots more then manuel box. as for regen of dpf if you have a decent duel carrigway near you then every now and then you can give it an italian tune up for 10mins that should be enough to burn the crap out of it.think as long as it gets up to temp and you hold in 2nd or 3rd gear for a bit then it should be fine.?

if its just the glass then follow above info, if its the whole mechinism then WAIT FOR IT,a lot of hard work. roof lining needs to come out,iirc im sure i posted my workings on this subject up,but i also think another member did some photos and they may well be in the faqs?.

im sure someone on here(years back)had the same dilema? iirc they swapped the boot lock over for the drivers lock.still doesnt stop you having to have 2 different keys but may well be easier this way????

well aunt sally i must say,10 years and this is the 1st thing thats gone wrong.KEEP THE CAR there aint many on this forum who can match that,lol.

take it back and get them to sort it,ask exactly what work was carried out when you 1st bought it.

i think youve found the failings,just follow the detailed info in the faqs on how to correctley carry out repairs to the wiring and hopefully all will be sorted.

bin ie9 for a start,maybe totally remove all elements of firefox and reinstall,then you may have to update it??

ask what there going to give you in the way of compo? lets face it you took your car to the so called experts and that didnt work,so time effort money etc. dont ask dont get lol.

how long ago was the module changed? take it back to them and tell them they hadnt fixed the problem,trouble with the stealers even with the mk3 they seem to change parts and hope for the best.while the poor customer pays for it.

welcome to the forum, also check the wires in the rubber gaitor on the rear hatch top right when open,known problem. ive deleted your other post on the same subject.no need to multi post.
