beppe the trouble with FORDS is they have no bloody idea about booster heaters,so they nearly always wright it off when in fact it could only be a glow plug required,as mentioned above try the glow plug 1st then take it from there.

hi peeps thanx for the replys so far, previous owner had it serviced(major 1)cam belt etc changed at 54500 miles, had the paper work sent to me from the ford dealer who done it, when i purchased the car at 57 k it apparently had another service done by the dealer who i bought it from, now the indicator has been counting down and now showing 100 miles to next service which will put it on 66k so would you go by the ford service or the numptys at the dealer i bought the car from they have obviously reset the indicator when they done the last service but im pretty dam sure they havnt used ford parts(but i could be wrong(it has happened once b4 :D ) does it matter whether ford parts are used?if not any one recomend the best place to obtain the parts from? MAZ,i remember when my m8 serviced my old 2ltr gal,the first thing he said to me was YOUR BLOODY CHANGING THAT,pointing to the pollen filter, mmmmm well thought out aint it
-
amazing havent had the car a year yet and already it needs a service  , as i know a man who can(for free  :16:) ,i need to know what i actually need to get for him to carry out service(approaching 65k), and would you recommend obtaining these items from the steelers or a factors? i already have the oil(halfords BOGOF deal) thanx in advance peeps regards gregers

THANX PEEPS,did wonder about this,so to conclude the reason why the gauge dropped is because all the heat of the engine was being used to heat the interior of the car. BIG KEV if you have read all my previous posts about the problems with the heater when i first bought the car AND THE F*****G hassle i had with getting things sorted out,you can see why im the proud owner of BRAND NEW BOOSTER HEATER,THAT COST THE DEALERS AN ABSOLUTE FORTUNE   :16: .

rusty, yes engine was running(but so was the interior heating). sanj, defo booster heater hadnt turned on(felt the unit(cold)since its a brand new unit have searched on here for the correct operating sequence of the unit and it seems to be running as it should be.

something i noticed this evening, the outside temperature was showing 10.5 degrees(so no aux heater needed)drove about 5 miles and the temperature gauge was showing 90 degrees, waited in a car park for about 10 mins and the gauge started to fall, went virtually to zero(i did have the heating on)drove off and the gauge started to climb back to normal, now when the booster kicks in the temperature gets up to 90 quite quickly and stays there no matter whether im stationary or not,so why is it doing this when the booster isnt being used?.

bloody hell andy that was a result,i take my hat off to you for your perseverance over it,i honestly wouldnt of thought the insurance company wouldve done it.

53 Gal Ghia - Bulb Failure Indicator.
gregers replied to Herts Hammer's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
HERTS,check all the bulbs just to make sure. ive just suffered something similar to this,i checked all of my bulbs and the drivers rear brake light had failed on closer inspection absolutly nothing wrong with it wiggled it about a bit and it started working, drove down the road only for the light to come on again, checked it again the elements seemed ok,but changed the bulb anyway, hey presto dash light goes out, still stumped so ill be keeping an eye on this,im wondering if theres a loose wire somewhere???. -
also if its only the glow plug?they would probably bill you for the repairs anyway as they would class it as a wear and tear item?.

CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will top all offers so far, you can have the wife, shes bloody expensive.
-
OUCH,at least you managed to get the problem sussed, even though its expensive.
-
if you were carting your kids around in snow and ice, wouldnt you take every precaution that you could? and not just go for the cheapest option?. er i was genuinely trying to be helpful, and i did read the post properly part of ad90 post We live at the top of a fairly steep road with a very steep (albeit short) drive up onto the road. Once down on the main road (bottom of the steep hill), it's not really an issue, WRT; is the journey necessary. i take exception over you assuming that i would compromise the health and safety of my children maz  remember i changed cars so all my seat belts were propers ones.
-
well i was going to offer a vauxhall vectra 1.6ls but you topped the bid maz ;) welcome mak, personally mate your be crazy to get rid of your car for a mk3 specially with all the problems they seem to suffering from(but that is my opinion)the jury seems to be out on whether the mk3 is better then the mk2.
-
wouldnt it be cheaper to just obtain a set of snow chains for when the snow is really bad in your area??

Another Gearbox Problem !
gregers replied to bigmac161's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
bigmac, you can get most parts from either v.w,seat or fords as they are virtually the same car,the cables sometimes come up on ebay from time to time. -
Topping Up Brake Fluid?
gregers replied to Deanoecosse's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
there is more chance of getting air in the system if you open the bleed nipple, the best way is just push the pistons back, and no need to top up! iirc its been posted before that you must use the bleed nipple because you can damage the seals etc,or am i talking out my arse as usual. -
