ok have now managed to get the code off of my compressor sd7v16/7m3820803a/ym2h19d629bb what i need to know is what the equivalent vw part is,any one know??? cheers in advance.

just noticed,theyve got that mk3 ins group on 11,a seat alhambra tdi on 12,the galaxy ghia tdi on 13,a galaxy 2.3 on 11(hows that work then?)amazes me how the insurance companys work out there groupings.

DO YOU THINK THE ENGINE WAS EVER TURNED OFF?i agree i wouldve been tempted too,nice to see theyve got a mk2 tdi ghia there for 10k,thats wot i paid for mine nearly a year ago,either there being greedy or the gals generally are holding there value a bit better.

apparently it has disintegrated, was chatting to my m8 last night who can replace the compressor but cannot do the drain or recharge of the refrigerant, are kwik fit still doing aircon recharges?and if so do you reckon they would remove the refrigerant and store it for me while i have the new compressor fitted? obviously will be trying to keep costs to an absolute minimum,hence why im asking,cant see many garages doing it if they aint getting the work.

afaik you havnt got a booster heater there found only on tdi,s not on petrol engine cars,so thats 1 less problem other then that i cant help but no doubt some of our resident experts will be a long shortly to other some guidance.

thanx for the pointers,i know wot you mean RUSTY it happens in my world as well ;) i am keeping an eye on the 1st one raymac, could you tell me what it all involves in changing the compressor,does the aircon need recharging ?or is there a way of clamping pipes etc so you can retain the refrigerant? just so im forearmed ;)

WELL HAVE BEEN TOLD ITS DEFO THE COMPRESSOR APPARENTLY ITS TOTALLY FUBARED. MY 3 KIDS ARE FOR SALE NOW. 793 QUID TO SORT OUT as its not covered under the warranty(mmmmm DONT BLOODY THINK ILL BE HAVING THAT DONE THEN) have been told to keep the climate panel turned off?is this right? does this mean i have no heating in the car at all or blowers for when the car steams up?never really understood the correct way of operating the climate panel anyway,as it always comes on automatically when i start the car would you suggest pulling the fuse out to stop this happening? thanx for your help so far, any one got a spare compressor?swap a booster heater for it(it finally turned up begining of last week :18: )

its to control the rear blower(back of the car), im sure its mentioned somewhere on here about it .iirc you can adjust the heat/cold between the front and the rear.

thanx m8 any idea on how much a new unit is likely to cost?

try buying 1 from ebay but iirc there only about a tenner from fords.

hi and welcome phil,me thinks i know where you bought your car from :rolleyes: TAKE IT BACK and tell them to sort it out,they are all to well aware of what happens with these units.

well have had to book it into the garage tomorrow for them to find out wot the fault could be,typical i must use this garage because of the warranty and depending on what they find will depend on whether it is covered by the warranty(CATCH TWENTY 2 SITUATION)and it it isnt i will have to pay for there time in diagnosing the problem. chromedome/beyond help. just gone outside AND YOU ARE INDEED CORRECT it is making the horrendous noise switching between auto and economy, looking through my warranty schedule it says 12 months/up to individual claims limit of ......purchase price,the air conditioning hasnt been high lighted,ME THINKS MY KIDS ARE GOING TO GO HUNGRY :rolleyes: THANX FOR THE REPLYS SO FAR CHAPS..ETS. p/s.. if it isnt covered is it safe to keep on driving the car without using the aircon?ie does the compressor run anything else etc etc???.
