  1. Welcome to the merry bunch
  2. SKIPPY,is that right about having too have your car serviced at a garage???coz i get a m8 to do mine(and its free :16: ) Yeah if you check out the conditions of most waranties they specifically require the car to be serviced at the manufacturers recommended intervals and has to be carried out by a garage and proof or stamp or whatever you want call it. So the cost of a service an MOT, insurance and tax and waranty premiums adds up to a lot of money. I know its a risk but surely it must be a saving if you dont pay for a waranty and take the sh*t when it hits the fan. I don't take waranty out. If it was me i would rather but aside a few quid in the bank each month and then it's there for those times when the s**t comes. Preventative maintenance is the key i reckon. The amount of times things seem to go wrong then bloomin heck there is sumat else too. Waranty companies make money out of selling them,so, if we all saved money by taking them out how could they make any ? ;)
  3. I'm keeping it for a few more weeks yet mate... To be honest i go by how much from full to orange light coming on. I once had 600 miles from the diesel coming out of the cap to orange light. That was testing it out at no more that 70-75 mph motorway milage mostly. On average with the trips i do i get about 550 to the orange light. Pushing it probably 525 ish. I think thats good and it will be loads more than what you are doing now. Mines a 115.
  4. There will be loads of useful things on here.. If i can help give us a shout.
  5. I have a 2001 1.9 tdi. I have 163,000 miles on it. It's a good engine, runs well, don't use much oil, economy is good, and i use mine for work and run up and down the motorway every day. It's had loads of servicing four cambelts and around

  9. A Virus Warning - but please do read this, "There is a dangerous virus being passed around electronically, orally, and by hand. This virus is called Weary-Overload-Recreational-Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from any of your colleagues, your boss, or anyone else via any means DO NOT TOUCH IT. This virus will wipe out your private life completely. If you should come into contact with WORK, put your jacket on and take two good friends to the nearest grocery store. Purchase the antidote known as Work-Isolating-Neutralizer-Extract (WINE) or Bothersome-Employer-Elimination-Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system. You should tell this to 5 of your friends. If you do not have 5 friends, you have already been infected."

  15. A LITTLE FLAB !! One morning while making breakfast, a man walked up to his wife, pinched her on the butt and said... 'If you firmed this up, we could get rid of your control top pantyhose.' While this was on the edge of intolerable, she kept silent. The next morning, the man woke his wife with a pinch on each of her breasts and said.... 'You know, if you firmed these up, we could get rid of your bra.' This was beyond a silent response... So she rolled over and grabbed him by his 'DANGLER.' With a death grip in place, she said... 'You know, if you firmed this up, we could get rid of the gardener, the postman, the pool man and your brother!' Have A Good Day!
  16. A blonde decides one day that she is sick and tired of all these blonde jokes and how all blondes are perceived as stupid. So, she decides to show her husband that blondes really are smart. While her husband is off at work, she decides that she is going to paint a couple of rooms in the house. The next day, right after her husband leaves for work, she gets down to the task at hand. Her husband arrives home at 5:30 and smells the distinctive smell of paint. He walks into the living room and finds his wife lying on the floor in a pool of sweat. He notices that she is wearing a heavy parka and a leather jacket at the same time. He goes over and asks her if she is OK. She replies yes. He asks what she is doing and she replies that she wanted to prove to him that not all blonde women are dumb, and she wanted to do it by painting the house. He then asks her why she has a parka over her leather jacket. She replied that she was reading the directions on the paint can and it said.. "FOR BEST RESULTS, PUT ON TWO COATS"
  17. To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine.. and those who don't. As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in water there is bacteria. In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in faeces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop. However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting. Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of s**t . There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service Stevie.m
  18. Welcome doodles to the forum. If you search this forum you will find many posts that talk about problems with the MKIII gal. I remember seeing one post far worse than yours IIRC the person didn't get much time behind the wheel of his in the first 12 months. I also remember one person saying that his windscreen leaked from the first day he got his. I hope yours gets sorted soon and you get many happy trouble free miles. Stevie.m
  19. Welcome, there a helpful lot here.
  20. Hi butch, firstly welcome to this forum, we are a friendly bunch here. There have been posts on here about the leads on ebay IIRC most people say they are ok. Personally i have a different reader. It seems to find the right faults and does a decent job you can get it off the net for 43 quid that includes the delivery. ,im at work at the moment so i cant remember the website but if you want to know post a reply and i will look when i get home mate. stevie.m
  21. Just been looking again for you on the net. Try these too. When i put details in the age box it went back further than 1998. I have to go to work now and not knowing more details of your car i couldn't go any further and get a quote. I hope you get a good one mate. Stevie.m
  22. Looking at the age for your car this could be a problem because it is 10 years old. Companies like these do warranty on cars but they say that a car must be no more than 10 years old and list other critera to meet. There is a bit of info as to what is covered. So if you find warranty to cover yours at least you know things that could get covered in it.
  23. If i drive at 70mph on a good run i get about 70-75 miles to a tenner. I do a lot of motorway miles tho. It would drop quite a bit to about 60-65 miles to the tenner
  24. Perfect chazy that's another one i owe you. :D Hope that helps daz ;) Two actuators are there left and right...
  25. Thanks for your advice i will take it on board. ;)
