Hi kambo, I have changes my discs and pads in the last few weeks and its so easy to do. If I remember the retaining bolt for the discs is an allen key type. You will need a piston winding tool but I was sold one that didn't fit by my local parts shop. So I used a pair of long nose plyers. I had to apply a bit of presure when winding them back, so I refitted the calipers without the discs and did it then. A word of warning there are different type of discs and pads I think so make sure you get the right ones as sometimes even shops give them out wrong as i found out, they supplied me with the wrong pads and i had to wait a couple of days till they got new stock. I hope this has helped. Merry Christmas Everyone

Hi there kambo, I've been looking at the internet for ages for a manual and can't find one anywhere. I have bought one of those tis disc and they can be useful but are no manual. If you find one i would be interested in where you found it, so if you post it here it would help for sure.

Hi Insider thanks again for your reply. The reason for changing the maf was because it was showing as faulty. This was another code but as I am away on business and I can't remember the code number that was. As soon as I changed it, this was when the problem came about. When I took another reading the maf didn't show up and this code did but it has been all the time. I didn't suspect the maf to be faulty but after reading something on here I think the new one could be although it does not show up on reading now mate.

Hi mostin, don't worry about daft questions mate just wait till you read mine  . You could always check to see if anyone has asked it before.

Hi there thanks for your info. I have already erased the fault codes. Then i took it out for a long run and sure enough the only fault code that came up was that one. I had a look on the disc i got with my reader and the code was down to imobilizer ? I also checked this out on the internet and found similar info. This fault has been on the car for ages. Oh i forgot . I was looking on here the other night and found a thread about pipes not being connected after service. Mine are ok but I have just changed the maf and had a service and this problem with the drop in revs appeared. I have yet to disconect the maf and run the car to see if idle problem gets better but his problem is exactly the same as mine. Maybe the maf is no good. What do you reckon ?

I have a noise coming from my gearbox. I think I have a problem with my release bearing. A horrible noise comes from this area when I start the car and when it idles. When I rev it it goes away but soon comes back at. I press my clutch pedal in and it goes away. The noises seems to be getting worse. Do I have to replace my clutch ? and where can i get one from ? Any replys would be gratefully received. Stevie m :(

Thanks for your reply mumof4 I have been out in it tonight and i did not notice the problem (i was not driving though). I am on a long drive in the morning so i will find out any problems and i will let you know if it continues. I realise that there is turbo lag but this is different feeling. If the problem continues i will try the first thing you said and work from there. Thanks for your continued advice i appreciate it. i will post any findings here thanks. Stevie M

I have changed my glow plugs. The starting problem was better this morning, although the weather was a bit milder and i was home late and out early. The idling problem might have gone too but I haven't given it a long enough run as yet to see. I will post on here the results. To help others

I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have been a member for a few months and have visited to look now and again. To be honest I didn't notice this section before and after I posted a problem recently I noticed it and thought it would be ignorant of me not to post something here. I think that the people on here seem to be very helpful and the forum is great. I hope that I can help people wherever possible. Steve m

I have a ford galaxy (2001) model with an engine idle problem. When I am stationary the engine revs drop for a split second and then rise again. This problem happens when hot or cold but it is not all the time. When I drive the car it feels as if it holds back for a split second and when I start it up it chugs a bit and I have to rev it up to smooth it out. My galaxy has done 160000 miles and I have kept the services up. It has just had it's last service and had a new cambelt and a new maf sensor. I have read the ECU and it show that there is a fault (code 17958) but this was showing ages ago, before the engine had this problem. I have been told that the starting may be down to glow plug ? Is there anybody who can help me with this problem ? Any advice is appreciated. Thankyou Steve Sorry forgot to mention this is a 1.9tdi (115)
