  1. Eugh, whats that???? The only galaxy that came with a console was the one with the media pack, it contains a handbrake surround, console, armrest and houses the media controler and dvd player. The armrest is tiny though and sits below the main front seat armrests hence no use. You'd also have to fill the hole the module sits in! The armrests are a doddle to replace though so just get some new ones and refit :(
  2. Anyone got one knocking about for the Mk2 in either paper form or PDF? The original dealer brochure thing that you'd pick up if you were thinking of buying? The only one I can find on ebay wants
  3. Hi Andy, is this a continuous knocking or just one knock on takeup and again on release? If its the latter it could very well be the driveshaft/gearbox coupling as they are a known weekspot resulting eventually in no drive.
  4. Reject the car, I wouldn't want that lot being fixed by a company that was happy to pass it as ok in the first place.

  6. And the bamma @ 35.3%
  7. And the sharan @ 36.4%
  8. 38.3% Overall.... Might be a good time to check your brakes if you have 1999 registered vehicle!
  9. Without wanting to sound too cloak and dagger, I've got various contacts in the vehicle industry ;)
  10. What colour? I might have one knocking about...
  11. In all fairness the kit is nothing more then a timer. The price I found was
  12. Sort of, thats the dealer fit kit which has no second battery/charger and just runs off the vehicles own battery. The one I have is the factory fit kit complete with second battery and charger, other then that they are virtually the same. ;)
  13. It changed January 09, and they are correct in that its not included in a service and is an additional cost (I don't know anyone who's paid it else I'd tell you how much! :D ) Its also only a 6 year warranty now and not a 12 year one as before - I'm fairly sure that only applies to vehicles sold after that date as I don't think they can legally change it if it was "sold" with the vehicle.
  14. The wiring is on the RIGHT as you look at it from behind the car, the rear/wash water supply is on the left. If you can't repair it yourself then it shouldn't cost much for an auto electrician to repair. My old Mk1 lost its third breaklight prior to me owning it and she had it repaired for
  15. Ahh Scorpiorefugee got in before me but basically thats exactly what I'm thinking, it makes no sense hence why I get a second confirmed reading for the coolent temp!
  16. Its not unthinkable that you just arn't getting up to enough of a temperature to fully open the thermostat. Always start with the easy things! Have you checked with VagCom the coolant temperature? It maybe as simple as the gauge sensor is defective - login to the aux heater controller and go to measuring blocks - you'll see a few in there and I think on page 2 you'll see two temperatures next to each other which are in and out temps - whats the "in" temp? That'll give you an indication of the current coolant temp but its passed down some long pipes at that point so it will be generally higher then that reading. You can do the same with the "engine" controller and see what thats says as that should be looking at a seperate temp sensor from the gauge one IIRC. With the current exceptionally cold temperatures I wouldn't expect the stat to be opening very frequently anyway but logically if you have heat from the vent then its warming up hence my thoughts on the sensor. IF you had a blocked radiator it wouldn't be reading low!
  17. Define "considerable time"? Car's generally don't like standing for more then a couple of months before things start to creep in, if its old and done some miles then leaving it standing tends to accelerate the process. If the pumps giving problems then just replace it, its not worth the constant hassle and most things that are "partially seized" are on the way out! The fan could be a number of things but most likely the ECU's water sensor isn't giving a reading causing the fan to go full tilt as a fail safe. You should be able to find the cause using a suitable diagnostic tool for that though :D
  18. I've taken lots apart now, you'll find the back of the DVD player has phono out's on it at line level so you can bypass the control box for the sound and go direct into your mini amp. As for the screen, everyone I've seen so far has been down to the connector under the seat - remove the tape and check the wiring as it enters the connector (not the connecor itself) as it seems to have been bonded too tight causing the cables to be stressed as they enter the back of the connector.
  19. They do, but they take the reading from a different sensor to the one that drives the clusters guage. If the fans are coming on full whack all of a sudden then its possible to have a controller or sensor issue but if they are just coming on speed 1 then its probably a discrepency between the two sensors. Without getting a reading using vagcom from both the gauge and ecu sensor you won't know.
  20. Well the timer and wiring loom have arrived! Just waiting on the battery and secondry controller and I can hopefully fit it at the weekend ;)
  21. Don't think so, the front washers were fine until I tried the rear washer There are two versions but an 05 car should have the one motor, two output version - its possible to burn it out and/or snap the impellor with prolonged use when the output is blocked which sounds like it could possibly have happened given the sudden change in pitch - you can just about get the motor from underneath with the undershield removed but I can't imagine changing it being much fun from that position!
  22. AFAIK thats the correct operation, fan 1 only comes on independantly when the A/C is switched. They come on together to control the engine temperature but have 3 speeds in total so there is quite a bit of control. I doubt VagCom will tell you much about the problem but its very likely to be either a stuck thermostat or failed water pump with my money being on the former.
  23. Handy to know, thanks for posting it up
  24. Just be carefull, you dont want that going wrong and deploying an airbag when your driving! You'll also need to get the code reset as the VW system wont reset airbag faults once logged
  25. They arn't switches, but connectors for the SRS Airbag system - specifically, the side bags mounted in the front seats. They are sprung loaded caps to keep the connector "made" and make it impossible to simply come undone without human intervention.
