  1. Easy - Its a clutch pedal switch.. :) Ohh you wanted more then that? Its for cruise control to work correctly and disable the CC when the clutch is depressed so the revs don't go through the roof.
  2. If the head is 100% then EGR cooler is certainly a possibility (I have a spare if you need one). The turbo generally produces blue-ish smoke as its burning the oil and the aux heater only puts its gas out of its own exhaust.
  3. Best thing to do with annoying sounds is find yourself a large empty carpark and then get someone to sit in the offending area pinpoint the cause whilst you drive around.
  4. Generally small bits of trim / caps like that are less then
  5. Be very careful giving that advice out mate as its simply not true, the airbag system is still very much active even with the lamp on so don't go prodding about thinking its safe and deactivated because it could hurt  I *think* you mean "if the clock-spring unit has gone O/C then it won't be able to fire that bag" which is a much safer line to give although even then I've seen CS units that have been diagnosed as faulty by their controllers that could still have carried enough current to fire the igniter. Also since the cause is yet to be identified that's a risky statement in itself. I'm not having a pop (boom-boom) at you btw - it's just the SRS system is more then capable of killing someone if they arn't expecting it. (There was a story recently about a German guy who's airbag went off whilst he thought it was disabled and the force put the screwdriver he was holding through his neck killing him instantly eek!) There are some exceptions where the system would be disabled entirely (Internal memory fault, input voltage outside range, more then one crash sensor faulty etc) but a zero or high resistance to the drivers igniter won't disable it - in the event of a crash it will still go through the motions and attempt to ignite that bag regardless, along with any others the system thinks are required (or are fitted)
  6. Do you mean RELAY 109 as there isn't a fuse 109? There is a quide to changing that relay in the FAQ if so.
  7. Ohh bollox, yes happy belated birthday mate (see, I said 30 was old I'm already loosing my memory!)
  8. Oddly enough that;s exactly what I've got on mine as well and yes it also fixes the problem :(
  9. Seems to be quite common this as all 3 of mine have had issues but a new arm won't fix it - just bending the arm slightly to apply more pressure will fix it.
  10. No. Wayyyy to many differences as they are entirely different engines not just a different displacement size. The 2.8 is a VW engine and the 2.3 a Ford so virtually nothing is the same.
  11. As Chris said that sounds like classic clutch slip which can only really be caused by a worn clutch or weak tension plate - either way its new clutch time.
  12. The airbag light is a hard light so won't reset itself and needs clearing by specialist tools. Could be any number of reasons its been thrown but again the tool will tell you. Where abouts are you in the SW?
  13. Thats not the sump! The sump is indeed the pan with the drain hole in it - that looks like the bottom of the crank case?
  14. Well any loose gaitor is a cause of concern, from the looks of it that's the intermediate shaft joint... is yours an auto?
  15. Mk1 cars have a single din radios with a CD changer controller that could sit in the second single din slot. Removing the second shelf would also require you to remove the bar between the two but then you would have a double din + gap size hole so not really an option. The Mk2 Galaxys have a 1.5 Din hole and therefore can take the 6000 (which is a 1.5 Din radio, not a double din size as some sellers claim). The early single din units that Ford produced were all quite crap tbh, so given the above and that there are loads of good aftermarket single din radios out there I would probably be heading off in that direction.rather then trying to stay original. You can even get remote converters for most of the mainstream brands should you have the remote stalk fitted.
  16. To be honest you'd be better off on a VW Golf or Bora forum, the V6 engine is the VR6 used in a few VW's and those guys are far more likely to have ripped them apart :P There's also www.vr6oc.com
  17. I would have thought it to be a Mcgard set but take a photo of the lockers and/or key and I'll let you know. There are a few places that can sell replacement keys, http://www.wheel-locks.co.uk/page.asp?id=keys is a good site. You'll need to know the key number though which should be either on a sticker inside one of the rear compartments, or in with the handbook pack, or with the key (if you still have the little bag it came in!)
  18. Attached, but you'll need to rename it back from .txt to .rar once downloaded as you can't upload rar files to this forum. The PDF in the forum link is old btw, the up-to-date version is here: DTE Feature PDF link vagtacho22v.txt
  19. Define air! Small bubbles are nothing to worry about - vast quantities will reduce the amount of fuel being pumped (and other things) and yes, that will cause a reduction in MPG but you would also notice poor drive-ability and possible misfire like symptoms.
  20. Nope shouldn't be there and isn't that common - its just bad camber (did they really not mention this???). Alignment won't help with camber issues either as that is a side to side measurement. A crude check if you have a decent vertical spirit level is to park on a level surface and then put it against the rear wheel - it should be level but I would suspect yours will bubble out instead indicating negative camber and suggesting the rear springs and/or shocks need replacing.
  21. The matrix isn't the expensive bit, its the labour of stripping out the dash to get to the bugger.
  22. Send greggers a PM <_<
  23. TBH George, from what you describe any "upgrade" is just masking a problem. The Galaxy system is more then adequate at stopping the car so if yours isn't able to do an emergency stop or put the ABS on then either: Its lacking vac pressure You have a servo problem You have old fluid You have air in the system. Brembo discs are well regarded (although there is no way you should be thinking about a solid disc on the fronts) and EBC should go well together but as said, it won't effect the general performance just help with brake-fade (which you don't sound like you have)
  24. Sorry mate, cleared out - try again :)
