  1. FWIW - the MK2 does not have vacuum pipes off the air filter box. I also suspect the t-map sensor is involved in this, as this is a temperature related component. I recently had to replace mine... http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...wtopic=9370&hl= get comfy first - or go straight to post number 30... para 2... The other 2 faults listed were "manifold absolute pressure sensor" and "manifold temperature sensor" There was also something about positive deviation and open/short circuit somewhere, I cant remember where the guy said that wa :D When it got HOT it lost power ;) I may have to look in this direction again because when cold, auto gearchanges are "thumpy" - a trait I found when I tried running the car with it unplugged ;)
  2. British condoms ;)
  3. Reminds me of this BT customer care call. Be advised it contains swearing http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=...672450629299727

  10. Just dont grab the pipe to feel how warm it is  It will smoke at start-up then clear if all is ok. If it continues to smoke search this forum for booster heater... Get a coffee before you settle down to a darn good informative read - with photo's too :D Here's a sample: http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...%20heater&st=75
  11. try a mouse trap
  12. Also note the water pipes to and from the heater matix are right next to the filter - so as the car warms up...
  13. I maybe should have said I used genuine ones :(
  14. I seem to recall seeing something about not moving the battery tray in a recent post about starting troubles, due to "engine support"? Last year I moved mine to try to resolve a bad earth connection but dont recall seeing any "large bolts" that would relate to engine mounting or supporting. Does anyone know if that applies to automatics? The reason for my concern is that mine had new drive shafts and gearbox 3 years ago, I changed split gaiters earlier this year... and they have split again  I also had new CV joints fitted about 3 months ago. Could an incorrect engine position be knocking them out?
  15. O - yee men of little faith, she came up trumps. All fitted and working tickety boo
  16. Job done - it was burning off the WD40 I'd liberally sprayed around within a minute of start up, following a few tense seconds of white smoke. Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread - Ivor your photo's were a clinching factor in the decision to attempt the fix  It nearly turned to tragedy as I'd used the first T20 torx bit that came to hand - and found that it wasn't made as well as it should be. I subsequently found one with better defined teeth and Bobs your cousins father. :( Being as I'd accessed the temperature sensor I also changed the pollen filter. Almost gave up on that.
  17. :( Yep - she had to go into town so I burdened her with the task of picking up my booster heater glowplug - and a pollen filter being as I'm going into the relevant area to close circuit the temp sensor to test it. Bless her - she don't take the car in town, worrying about overstay on the parking meters, she took the bus. The filter aint heavy but sure would be a pain to drag around the shops. Anyway - I've asked her to ring when she has the bits in her hand so I can start dismantling - she's been gone over two hours now... and left her phone home
  18. :16:   Absolute class reply    Martin - I gave up try to find your glowplug after wading through four pages of stuff I didn't want  so I'm off to the main dealer to order it now, I'll get it tomorrow morning. Well, ford dont list it in their dealerships spares breakdown - The current VW price is
  19. All you are missing out on is a tad of noise insulation, and an uncluttered sight when you lift the bonnet. Off-set that with easier access to inspect and service the odd item. And some fraud trainee mechanics won't know what engine you have :D OMG - someones took mine :) http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/uploads/post-647-1155143365.jpg
  20. My mrs spends everything I save

  22. Warranty direct has sorted my AC compressor @
  23. Check the pads wear sensors are "plugged in" on the front nearside mate. It also takes a few miles for the fault to clear after an abs warning.
