All remotes have to be programmed (up to a max of 4) at the same time, if you program a new remote then any others will become unprogrammed.

;) What sarcasm, not really able to recall any instances of this type of usage on this forum ;)

on the tdi the cruise control is fly by wire - not vacuum based at all

remote entry from mid 1997/1998 is wireless radio based 433/434MHz can't remember which, Sharan keys should work (after the changeover years) some of the flip type keys also work but I don't know if its just a frequency matching problem or whether there are different types two ways that always set off our alarm. 1) sit in car and use the remote to lock the car, sit still for a minute then wave arms around ;) kids love this :D 2) from outside the car with a door open lock the car with the remote, carefully close the door so that it just latches (without fully closing) wait a minute and then try opening the door ;) wife is always doing this :D

and working air-con, aux heater and remote key ;) ;)

there is a 'variable service' scheme available - can't remember the exact name which depends not only on mileage but on the the type of journeys taken - its a vw thing - wonder if yours has been put on that schedule??
-
wonder he'll faithfully replicate the scratch down the nearside where the wife modified the shape ;) :D again ;) :D

its in the faq here - you can buy off ebay ;) or you can hold the trip button whilst starting the car, ignore anyone telling you that the bonnet needs to be opened ;)

Battery Not Holding It's Charge
NikpV replied to greg_68's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
whilst I agree in general ;) - I have to say that our tdi always starts straight away - difficult to describe but it catches as soon as the key is turned ;) , the only time it didn't was when the battery had been run flat by te dvd player being left on overnight- then it was just 'click'. Connected to our escort with leads and it started as tye key was turned :D I was talking about physically pushing the car to get it started ...I dont think a high compression diesel would bump start antway mate so you're right with just a click :D oops sorry misinterpreted what you were saying - my bad :D -

during a swap of the instrument panel ford fitted one in which the speedo either did nothing or did over 100mph across the garage forecourt, this was to correct a problem with 1) fuel gauge intermittently reading low 2) invalid 'check brake pad' indicator and 3) incorrect door ajar warning (would tell you that the wrong door was open). Apparently some 2001 gals were fitted with instrument panels from late model mk1 (or something like that - over the transition period) Eventually they replaced it with another which cured all of these problems and added the cruise control light asa well, they wanted to charge us

definitely not change te battery - don't lose the pats chip and reprogram - provided there isnothing else wrong it is very easy to reprogram - see faq - coding sharan remote key fob - second post IIRC - Seatkids you really can't do anything wrong
-
how did your programming procedure differ from the one here linked in the faq ps I've used this one and would be interested in any others that work
-
fbn (type) 5 O9B.A
-
if it died slowly then won't be a fuse, new batteries (where did you get your 'new' batteries from?) and reprogram needed, ps don't lose the pats chip while changing the batteries, btw it is an rf key, does the car go into programming mode?
-
we already have just here pm me the details and I'll add him/them
-
vehicle details would be helpful :D
-
Yes - seems like a reasonable idea - all we'll need is some one to tell us which jokes they've seen so that we know not post the wrong ones. :D Would you like the job? just post on the end of one thread we can then just look at the first unread post to the end of the thread especially as it appears that the poster doesn't know if they've posted the joke before or not

Turbo Loss When Engine Cold
NikpV replied to dt1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
in this case definitely have a vacuum/turbo problem but I would lay money on a problem with the maf as well - the faults may be interacting when cold or maf be copletely separate. -

btw maf faults rarely show up as dtc on vag-com unless missing  -
Electric Window Fault Won't Go Back Up
NikpV replied to shelbournes's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
had a quick look at TIS andf cant find separate relays (not always easy to trace wiring with TIS) it appears that the windowmotors are incoporated in what Ford call a 'Multifunction unit' given that the problem was intermittent before you had the door card off and now wont work I am even more strongly suspicious of a break in the wires inside the insulation (given the age of the car as well) -
Electric Window Fault Won't Go Back Up
NikpV replied to shelbournes's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I have a similar problem - rear passenger window will only go up on switch not with key on global closing unless the loom to the door is wiggled - there is a broken wire in there somewhere but have not had time to fix yet. The wires for global opening/closing appear to be different than for normal operation - which was a surprise to me. -

Turbo Loss When Engine Cold
NikpV replied to dt1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
without wanting to contradict you but when I did the maf (mk2) earlier this year I had the airbox out and cleaned it - I don't remember any other hoses/connections
