  1. so whats changed ?
  2. Hmmm.... Live webcams? Nothing appears to be moving at all!! great :o ;)
  3. the roll restictor usually doesnt snap but the gearbox end (iirc) bolt shears off but still looks ok! rocking the engine will indicate this but if so dont leave it too long because its said that one of the welds on the air con pipes fails with repeated engine movement
  4. with a mk2 the center position is off! even in the door open position the lights stay on for a certain time after the last door is closed or the cebtral locking activated
  5. nah could still be maf - cheaper to try anyway worth checking th autobox oil though
  6. sounds like the transmission is going into limp home mode - max gear is then 3rd iirc I would think that the maf could easily affect temperatures although you may have 2 separate problems could try gsf (german, swedish and french) for maf or fords themselves
  7. look here for location of maf sports mode (at least on my TDi) is selected by how quickly/how far (cant quite decide which) I push the accelerator pedal - eg. coming off a roundabout if I floor the pedal rather than gently increasing revs it goes into sports mode which means it wont change up until it reaches 4k (max for tdi engine) for each gear change this results in max acceleration (and fuel used) - it then defaults to normal mode where it changes up earlier. I dont even know if you have sports mode although if I could afford it I would like to try the 2.8 v6
  8. I got this from Taliska today - I've posted it and my reply (hope no one objects since its not really 'personal') what do you folks think?? my reply......
  9. Becki On my 2.3 auto the revs are 3200 at 70 mph. I was told this is the correct level for the AG4 box when I had it rebuilt. Therefore 3000 at 60mph seems about right. As for the changing gear at 4500 this does seem excessive unless you are in sport mode! Mine normally changes up based on speed of car and not the rev level. If driving in granny mode this is normally about 2000 -2500 revs in each gear (35 to 40mph) going into top gear. Regards sounds like its going into 'sports mode' on a tdi this forces it to wait until 4krevs before changing up - iirc its activated by the speed/how far the accelerator pedal is depressed wonder if you have some problem associated with throttle
  10. try global opening - key in lock - hold in unlock position
  11. is the little led flashing on the door - may indicate an immobiliser problem - iirc the doesels will crank but not start - i cant remember whether you have tried more than one key or not
  12. I know op hasn't a tdi but maybe!! alternator idle pulley
  13. probably rules out timing then, can you bump start it now?
  14. possible a loose pulley (bottom iirc)- someone has posted before about this working loose - may affect the timing to the extent that it wont start (steadily worsening problem) when it did start was there any evidence of smoking ?
  15. do you get any clicking at all when you try starting the car
  16. dunno if I should start a new thread, suppose I'll do that too... but my 2001 Galaxy is getting stuck in Park; where exactly is this switch I should tey to oil? cheers! follow brake pedal upwards
  17. sounds like it may be maf - surely its got one. split vacuum hose to turbo sometimes doesnt open up but hy?
  18. I use the kumho - wear better than dunlop 2020 can't say If I've noticed much difference in handling but I try and drive sedately anyway - some say there is more road noise, again cant say btw - they are xl tyres (marked on tyre)
  19. iirc you can pull the corrugated hose away from the housing but you have to keep the 'retainig ring' still as seen here
  20. think maz was refering to this post whilst your reasons for selling are your own business 10k is a big hit for 4 months use so people will natrurally be concerned if the reason is car related...
  21. umm I get 'check brake pads' when the wear warning sensor is dosconnected - have you got a different fault I wonder
  22. cut the plug off off the old pads, solder wires together, heat shrink the join and plug back in - it just needs to complete the circuit no reset or anything
  23. just wondering - do all 7 seat cars have the floor mounts for the 6 seater positioning as mine does?
  24. you need this link
  25. well done - the door wires are a common problem - see 31 and 43 in the faq
