  1. Hi guys Thanks for all the feedback. Went out this afternoon and she fired up straight away. 5/10 minute journey to Tesco and started up again fine. However I thought I noticed a slight (maybe a second or two) delay when coming home. Got her back in the garage and turned her off. Left it 30 seconds and turned her over again and nothing. Kept trying on and off over the next few minutes and she started half the time. I did notice that there was a slight delay a couple of times and I didnt notice any clicking from the fuse box within the car area. I mentioned this to my OH who was helping me yesterday and she said the same thing. Also I noticed a couple of times when she was helping me was that the passenger indicator flashed as well. Can this help throw any light on the problem? Cheers WJUK Ps - Someone also mentioned as I had my mate battery test it that I should have tried to turn it over whilst he was testing it to see if there was a big drop in voltage. IIRC you can eliminate the pats - I think on the Diesel versions the car turns over, starts/dies if its a pats problem (my memory may well be playing up though)
  2. possibly 'Immobilised'??
  3. 20 mins per day depending on YOUR driving style then :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
  4. there is an ssue with the sender and instrument cluster mismatched on early mk 2s - they only cured it with a change of instrument cluster o ours but you are describing the symptoms we had although trying to remember back 8 or 9 years I thought there was an issue with the incorrect door being reported as open on the dash display as well
  5. I have a 2002 1.9 galaxy and the temp sensor is at the back of engine and a bit of a pain to get to. Do a search and I am sure you will find out exactly where it is. Bill http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/7886-faqs-common-questions-and-solutions/ item 56 any help ?
  6. have you had a look at http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/7886-faqs-common-questions-and-solutions/ item 22 and IIRC relay 27 may be implicated item 36
  7. oops sorry didnt read the bit about it being navigation double din unit
  8. radio can be removed with two bits of bent coat hanger in a U shape - about 2 inches long and the pitch of the twoprongs to match the 2 holes on either side of the head unit - the u pieces need to be pushed in and then either need to spread apart or pushed together(I cant rememnber which ) whilst pulling the head unit out towards you
  9. because alopecia is a song about french children! if you say so but I'm sure its got a Z in it somewhere so it must be alcatraz - n0w wheres my bird ??
  10. 99% chance that it is broken wires/insulation in the door to pillar loom see the faq http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/7886-faqs-common-questions-and-solutions/ items 31 and 43 IIRC
  11. I stand corrected - I reckon al.... al.... is setting in cos I cant remember what its called (no not alcoholism  its got a z in it somewhere)
  12. it gets the engne up to working temperature quicker - to check you have it look under the rear door passenger side you should see a small lawnmower type exhaust pointing rear and slightly towards centre line
  13. 99% probability that this is coked up variable vanes on the turbo (VNT turbo) ... engine management senses overpressure tryng to adjust the vanes and drops into limp home mode to protect itself I have this (auto 115Ps) 152000 miles itdoesnt happen all the time and usually when the turbo is cold - there is a cheap fix lo but you have to take the turbo off and clean it - its not meant to be servicable part and I think the cost new is
  14. perhaps my memory isat fault but IIRC mk2 1.9 were 115 or above
  15. its a pd engine so only oils specced to vw 505.01 are recomended its a 5W40 oil e.g.Ford 'Formula SD'- check the small print on others for the 505.01 quantum PD or Millers XFE PD are alternatives
  16. check that the air con clutch (below and slightly to the front of the air filter) is not loose and wobbly on its shaft - sound odds but it can make some very odd noises if the nut has come undone and its loose - the splines on the compressor aremuch harder than the clutch and will wear the clutch plate away - I had this and I ignired the noises too long = clutch was b*gggered when I found it in the undertray
  17. given its seeing a door still open could there be a problem with the wiring looms between doors/pillara -common problem
  18. possibly relay 27 sticking when warm - IIRC there is a faq about this something about intermittent cut out and starting problems??
  19. Most likely you are running Microsoft Internet Explorer. IE9 is a broken piece of crap that doesnt work on many forums. I suggest you download Firefox, google chrome or Opera and enjoy surfing as it should be. I use Firefox with adblock plus addon installed so I have a pleasant add free experience. and the ghostery add-on
  20. wont catch you up but I've had my galaxy fotr 11 years (had it at 1 year old and cost 15k) mine needs some work doing on it now but generally still running :-)
  21. At the moment you get random error pages but the posts seem to get posted ok. Just click the refresh link. Ive had a couple that havent posted though
  22. In terms of the forum I'm not sure how much in the way of donations would make it economic to continually update, monitor and maintain - it was always a free site !! As you probably realise looking through the previous threads that I was at one time quite active on here  so much so that when I met Glen a few years ago my wife told him she was citing it as part of the divorce -_- neither of us took her seriously ... ooops she did 5 months later. Despite a years break whilst I really didnt have the time or inclination to visit, I have tried to file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/nik/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.pngfile:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/nik/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.pngkeep in touch, update the FAQs as folks suggest new threads tidy up the duplicate posts etc but without an admin panel and some access to the server its difficult to keep the site up and running. I notie it is stll throwing an error when you post (although the post does appear) Without some input from glen I dont know hat the answer is.
