with the test procedure you put it on 'lo' which makes the aircon remove as much heat from the air as possible ie gives you the biggest temp difference between cooled and non cooled air irrespective of any other considerations so no other sensors (well maybe the ice sensor) should come into play

my gut reaction too - was it a ford garage - good policy is to supply the oil yourself or if its a ford ask them for the other 0.5l of formula sd that they put in (needs 4.5l out of the 5) this is useful for top ups and at least reminds them of the correct oil.

ifts a pd engine it has to be a pd spec oil not just the correct viscosity needs to be vw 505.01 spec . Do duckhams do a suitable oil ?

did they replace with uprated glowplug~? beru part number ending in 340 not 228? I think if they diagnosed the fault charged you and didn't correct it then its down to them - you didn't walk in and say - 'replace my glowplug' they need to take more responsibilty than changing things at your cost until it is corrected

try with a spare key to rule out immobiliser problems - (what does the door led do~) - think its unllikly but a quick cheap/check. (Pump) timing slipped a tooth is enough I'm told ;)
