  1. :angry2:
  2. reassuring - how is the reset communicated to the heater - this may be useful - it would save having a vag-com to communicate with the ecu etc  :angry2: ps for our edification what other pre start checks will result in a non start (and so will not cause a lock out) and what faults will cause a lock-out (assuming flame out and overheating would be two of these) Another poster here is getting an overtemperature warning logged as a DTC can you tell us which of the two temp sensors this is (IIRC he is also getting a message saying one is faultyagain ) we couldn't work out which of the two sensors is responsible for these apparently the heater is working ok
  3. interesting - I wonder what make my heater is then?? was told i had the glowplug o/c dtc by fords and one whole winter later (without it firing up) - changed the glowplug and the following morning away it went  :angry2:
  4. RAF Coningsby RAF Cranwell RAF Digby RAF Scampton RAF Waddington sweepstake anybody??????
  5. will depend on the reason - certainly glowplug o/c errors do not need resetting before it will restart - AFAIK its the ecu which locks the unit out under some circumstances
  6. welcome to the forum bad news - ~If you only have one key then you need to get ford/vw to code another (pats-unlock and start/trun the car) if you get anymore keys you can code them yourself but ypu need two working keys to do this  pats coding remote coding both of these are in the faq (click on the red link in my signature) put your car details in your signature it helps everyone help you :angry2:
  7. whats it like when you turn it on ???? ;) :P
  8. interesting - i would seriously be worrird about my OH putting our three in the car and driving to school trailing a connecting cable or worse still pulling the gubbins out of the hose  ;)
  9. :P ..beat yer to it hun..by mere milieconds. ;) qualty counts not speed :P :P aye and even after she'd found it, bought one, still took ages to get it fitted :D :D
  10. sounds like it went into 'Limp home mode' last night hows it doing this morning??
  11. no, probably improve it no end
  12. worth putting your details in your signature then - click on the read link in my sig'- more chance of peeps being able to help :angry2:
  13. what type and age gal have you got? ok! 96N reg 2.0l petrol  put details in the signature-saves us searching if you've posted before and cheaper on the seance/ouija board if you havent. high CO=not enough air/too rich so does your new lambda work - can have dodgy earth connection, possibly Maf Sensor - may or may not affect running. Could get dtc codes read IIRC connection on maf should be 0.5V at tickover and 1.5V at 3000rpm
  14. normal for it to come on briefly as the glowplugs fire up Many thanks. One more thing I have just noticed is that the pre heater coil on the dash lights up for a few seconds as the engine fires on restart. would this help anyone point to the main culprit? thanks again to everyone who has added input to my problem. normal for it to come on briefly as the glowplugs fire up :D
  15. yes bleeno it doesj ust had a gander in the book :D Note that this is the second key and has no buttons ;) so I would doubt that will work. Should be able to get a locksmith to check the coding on the key. Don't know if they can change them though :D Anyone know about this? doubt what would work? note:the remote coding (opening the doors) is handled by the GEM system, the PATS coding handles the engine starting, a non remote key, plain or with torch - single button just needs the PATS sorting, a remote key will need the GEM coding and PATS coding sorted, 2 different procedures! would help if OP put car details in signature I've scrolled back and forth on my pda to find some idea of age (since it appears to have a warranty period of 10years,2 months and 2 weeks must be a new standard- wonder what the milage limit is 156,067 ;) ;) :D :D
  16. less surprising though than the air or tiny currEnt :D :D (unless someone creeps up on you with it :D :D :D :D :D )
  17. whilst being sensationalist (and off topic) 5cc of air can also kill you :D :D :D
  18. even if no insulation is there we are talking 12v - not high enough to produce a reaonable current through you even in exceptional favourable circumstances Er what?!!! .... believe it or not 12V is a lethal voltage and a current of 500mA can kill you!!!!! actually 20-30 mA can kill you although not in any circumstances involving a heated galaxy seat I can think of without being too sensationalist :D :D
  19. even if no insulation is there we are talking 12v - not high enough to produce a reaonable current through you even in exceptional favourable circumstances
  20. Is poor performance on hills a symptom of a bad MAF? I only ask because our diesel Mondeo is very bad at hill starts (no power, etc)......and also gives poor MPG certainly when our maf was starting to fail it was a dog accelerating up a hill :D
  21. bit too extreme I think :D :D (just thought id whack this in! :( ) well..i know i wouldnt plug anything into the maf to see which is pos or neg.....id come on here and ask :( :D .... true - sorry OP :) (mumof4 :D getting too smart )
  22. If it misses the top then thats the same as ours which bit is it missing ??- mumof4 is an expert with these springs :) :) :( :(
