  1. windows virtual memory file - when windows runs out of real memory it copies some to the hard drive and reloads it when its needed - the error you got could have been reloading from the swap file good luck
  2. 'We will let you know in writing .......' who knows ... yet :16: :D
  3. yes i defrag every week..even if it tells me i dont need to. ive AVGd the pc and used my avast anti virus problem is normal defrag will ignore the swap file - need to do that before going into windows cos its always in use
  4. cor let off easy .. "I should make the best of efforts to endeavour to show the respect to those with infinitely more experience and wisdom, raising my eyes briefly whilst they instruct me in proper deportment." now do that 50 times - followed by a 1000 word eassay on the 'inside of a ping-pong ball' :D :D :16:

  9. probably yes to the PATS - the key that starts the car, impossibly to tell if its coded to the GEM - for remote opening if the transmitter is borked.
  10. yes forum update has lost the display of the vehicle details - see here ah sorted I see if you look at the top of the pillars between the doors you should see perforated sections, the ultrasonic sensors are in there, don't know offhand whch fuse it would be - if its been removed it should be obvious but if its blown it will be a case of looking at all of them - tedious but cheap :D as to the first error - does your aircon work - does the display flash on start up ?
  11. ah hadn't thought about canibalising a laptop - must think on it cheers for the info
  12. cheers - would appreciate any info you can find
  13. at a wild guess, fault with ultrasonic sensors or wiring (top of B-pillars) kept setting off the alarm so someone has pulled the fuse to stop it sounding. :D PS - would be useful to know car make/model/year (put it in sig line)
  14. WIN MCE ?? windows media centre?? running on 12V?
  15. if you right click on my controls and select open in new window you can keep post open and switch between by clicking on the task bar
  16. Considering the possiblity of building a pc as a media player to fit in the car. Was thinking of basing it on a shuttle type case as small as possible. to include: dvd drive amd processor 512Mb memory firewire connection large hard drive 250Gb umm - some sort of anti shock mounting mouse wireless or wired fanless graphics card - svideo output + splitter os system - windows media/ linux ?? couple of wide screen lcd displays (already got these) How would I sort out a power supply (happy to build my own but it would be transformer/regulator based - not switched mode), would need to supply power to screen as well Basically just want to be able to copy current dvds onto hard drive, transfer videos froom laptop, and play them. Am I wasting my time - don't want to spend mega bucks and I can't find purpose built systems basic enough. Comments/thoughts/feasibility anyone
  17. summing up then 1, not a lot 2, no
  18. used to be worse - now get about 4 hours a night
  19. Ah but that is a non applicable thread they were pink boxes, what we have a serious case of explicable blue boxes - unless of course they turn pink :( :D :16: :16:
  20. Each of us sees our own warn log, if its on 0% it means you haven't had any warning - not been a naughty boy/girl if your warn log is greater than 0 then ckick on it and you will get a window telling you who has warned you and for what (moderator/admin) try clicking on the 0
  21. hmm can't see why either - I would try and get details of new car spec in writing can't remember if youve given trading standards a ring if you haven't I reckon its time to if you can't get anything in writing, I assume you still have a Galaxy from them to drive around in?
  22. hmm implies maf problems, may be worth disconnecting it and seeing if it makes any difference - costs nothing, if it doesn't get worse then its suspect - I've never heard it causing stalling though - may be worth a try (see faq for location) ps Helpful to give full car details
