  1. my son was fined by the police for having no water in the screen washer, they had a good look over the whole car for any others they could add as well. i thought it was a joke at first but no it was'nt. see this one in the sun for what is even more of a joke. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article147077.ece i do know that he could have needed to clean the screen and would not be able, and new young drivers may need a good reminder (as in a fine) but where does it stop? hopefuly he may even check his car a bit more regually now? i had a look on the internet for any more gems but its not easy to find the things that may cost you a fine.
  2. no problems here? or have i just jinxed it?
  3. hands off you lot, i saw her first............
  4. will you let us know the answer?
  5. dodgy dealer saving costs? or mate down the road?
  6. you will find the pats chip for the plastic key in the round end part. mine had one. i have glued this togther now to prevent it coming open and losing the chip. easy way to by pass the chip is to remove the one you have and leave it fixed near the ignition and any cut key will work.
  7. RUGBY BALL..................
  8. i was thinking that the greasing up may be done with out removing the linkage as long as it's not siezed up, just by undoing the wiper nuts and removing the blades, then the e washer and rubber seal and dropping the pins down to grease if they would drop far enough to get the grease on?
  9. the photo of the complete unit out on the floor is as it came out, if yours is different try to make look the same. i guess you moved a joint out of place with the motor off?
  10. has some one put the links together wrong? after a re-build.
  11. you wont get a haynes for it, they did not do one!
  12. while greasing up the wiper linkage i found that a rubber strip was loose under the front scuttle part? the pannel with the washer jets in. this stops the pannel from touching the windscreen, so i re-glued it in place, just thought it may be one of those impossible to find rattles?
  13. attachment=4877:3_bolts.jpg]just removed my wiper linkages today. regreased and put back on to the car. took some photos for this forum. the linkages were not siezed so was an easy job. the harder parts were the motor plug removal, placed a screw driver into the top part and pulled it off in the end. the other hold up was the rubber part the suports the wiring on the nearside of the linkage bar by the water bottle. a little wd40 helped. noted the top suspension struts were rusty and had water in the top parts. i covered them with alli sheet to prevent it refilling with water i hope. also cleaned up all the leaves and rubish that collects in the bulkhead. 1. remove end trims by pulling the up and off. then the wiper arms. 2. remove washer jets and pannel. 3. remove next cross member pannel this is a bit fiddly but does come out. 4. remove motor plug 5. remove cabel suport by pressing middle section in with a screw driver and some wd40 6. remove air filter lid (3 screws)and loosen washer bottle to give space. 7. remove the assembly bolts 8. wiggle and pull the linkage out carefully. 9. remove E washer, washer, and rubber seal pull the link apart, i did this by moving the arms from side to side to get the links apart one at a time. if not siezed, if siezed see other posts for advice, 10 re grease note the two shim type washers at the end of the link. replace to linkage and replace the washers. 11 rebuild the car and job done. hope i have made this clear if not let me know.
  14. i now have coded the pats chip in the plastic key. did have two metal ones to do it though. if any one else has a plastic key try to start your engine now before you need it in anger! why was'nt it coded from the factory?
  15. my plastic key had a chip in it. but it seems not to be coded for the car? i plan to try and recode it sometime.
  16. the DVLA are notorious for making errors on these papers, they are at the moment omiting driver license details like class of vehicle you can drive and adding ones you have no test certificate for. lots of people are losing motorcyle class details when they change address, and they refuse to accept an error has occured. means you have to retake the tests as the pass certificate is sent to them to update your details....
  17. could do that, but my way the boards sit nicely and the dash is protected by the seat. the longest board goes from the dash to the rear door trim and sits low enough to see the mirror and most of the window.
  18. i turn my passenger seat round to load my windsurfers into the car, dont think its that hard? remove the head rest first then lay it down to the dash, boards fit in a treat..
  19. any locksmith who does cars should be able to make a new key for you and recode the imobiliser.
  20. the remote has two batterys, one under the other with a plate between. mine did the same thing and after a lot of bother i bought a new one. coded first time.
  21. i had a go at tinting but really struggled for the rear window, so gave up and paid for it to be done. cost about
  22. press them and see, we would be guessing!!!!
  23. if it was a fair cop, you will get the nip very quickly, they dont hang about..... 56 should be ok i would think.
