Heater Booster Above 10c?
raymac replied to g4hlf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
just to confirm that you didn't have any faults cleared - I presume that it would have been the glowplug open circuit dtc if it was disconnected no fault codes cleared and nice and warm thank you very much :o ;) -
Heater Booster Above 10c?
raymac replied to g4hlf's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
well i changed my heater glow plug yesterday and we are now taxi-ing on the a45 runway :( :D i heard it this morning and took it for a 2 mile spin and the temp gauge rose at a fair rate considering the temp was 6.5c, the job took me about 2.5hrs to do ,the glowplug i took out looked like it had hardly been used but that was probally down to the fact it was disconnected before by some fraud monkey :D ;) so i'm well chuffed now ;) -

Try getting some sleep  :D :D -
i think you will find that most diesels even brand spanking ones will churn out black smoke when floored, i would only be worried if this was happening when driving normally  so forget the specialist and put your wallet away. what year and spec is your gal

Not planning to part with the Gal for many years...best car ever had! The Mondeo Zetec S V6 we had was fab mind...but the space in the Galaxy is great...the wife said she felt like a delivery driver for Argos the first time she had a go!!!, but loves it to bits now! Speaking of the wife, I'm thinking of selling her at the moment!!! (not in any rude kind of way I must add!) She bloody slightly kerbed one of the alloys today... Not her fault entirely, someone cut out on her and she had to swerve to avoid him..... Well that's what she's tellin me anyway!...probably puttin her bloomin lip gloss on!!!! Not that noticeable really, but I know it's there! Regards Stevie G Steve do you have to inform insurance company regarding l;owering suspension as a mod or does it not apply, only asking as i am thinking of having it done  cheers and nice job

Ok people that's enough of the bickering and bad language let's leave it at that we are here to help each other out and that sort of back biting and insulting behaviour helps no one :D and if it carries on i'll get me dad  :D

I think most diesels blow quite a bit of smoke when you floor it, my gaffer had a brand new mondeo tdci 130bhp and when you floored it it left quite a bit of smoke behind and i also had the same with my audi 80 estate,as for nearly failing the mot i ahve been advised the best thing to do is before you take it for the mot give it a good run out on the motorway and that helps so i am told

Welcome Seacam ;) there are lots of niggles with the Gal and some major like the aircon/climate control which is probally the main pain in the arse and an expensive fix :D any problems and there will always be some advice given so fear not :D we are all more qualified than the ford grease monkeys so if you get a problem with it come on here first then take it to ford because you will have to explain to them exactly what the problem is and how to fix it :) :D :)

Right then let me explain about my booster heater and then you fine people can tell me if it's bollocksed :D   i have had the car since may and recently found the wire to booster had been disconnected so i have reconnected ,having read this thread i am under the impression that once the ambient temp is 10c the booster heater should kick in , well this morning it was 10c and nothing , now is it faulty do you think or does it need to be a bit lower temp for the heater to kick in :) any advice will be greatfully accepted and before anyone says use the search i already have and have not got the time nor the patience to read 17 pages on the booster heater in the faq section  :D :D -
To be honest i tried the search button a few times yesterday and got no joy :o i think sometimes it can be a bit tempremental or just mental :o
