  1. My now five year Galaxy has only done 35k. I believe the cam belt should be changed at 60k for my model but I have heard talk that a cam belt should be changed at five years if sooner. Can some of you guys give some guidance on this? Thanks.
  2. Check the wiring in the "boots" at the top of the door. These have been known to fail. If one of the connections is shorting out to earth this could bring the overall car voltage done enough to dim your clock, but don't hold me on that one. ;)
  3. The company must be using sub standard heated windscreens or indeed not fitting them correctly. My original fit is 5 years old and still works fine. Can you insist in an OEM windscreen to be fitted?
  4. Your drive looks like it is sloped. Try parking on a level surface.
  5. Do you have the same problem without the engine running? If not it could be a bad case of clutch drag.
  6. It's hard to explain, but.................. There are two long bars under the seat that run across the width of the seat. With the lug located in the floor socket squeeze the two bars together to release the locking catch and the seat should drop into the floor socket.
  7. Another thing to look out for on the auto is the wiring between the box and the ECU. It has been known to wear through at different points on it's cable route causing a number of gear change faults.
  8. I agree with Big Kev. May be worth an ATF fluid change as it burns with time. Probably best done by a garage you trust as the ATF fluid has to be at a certain temperature when checking the fluid level.
  9. I bought a new one from the dealers for about
  10. Have you tried searching and posting your problem in the MK3 section of the forum?
  11. Thanks Dave. That's the message I keep getting. I'm hoping a quick clean of the connections will do the trick.
  12. I understand there is a water level sensor on the expansion tank. Please can someone tell me where it is located because I can't see it. Thanks.
  13. I've read somewhere on the forum that these fuses are under the drivers seat.
  14. You may find a pool of water under there. If so search for rear windscreen washer leaks. If water is present, some people have been lucky enough to dry the modules out over a couple of days in the airing cupboard indoors.
  15. What vehicle do you have. If diesel, read posts about the aux heater which is fitted to help the engine get up to temperature because the engine is so efficient it cannot generate enough heat on it's own.
  16. Had a bit of a fiddle around with the metering pump tonight, bloody freezing, and it worked for a little while and the aux heater clicked happily and fired up. So it seems the pump may be suspect. Does anyone know if a GSF part is available and at what cost. The ebay link are claiming a new one is
  17. Am I right that a metering pump is used to supply fuel to the aux heater? I have a problem where the aux heater doesn't fire up when the outside temperature is very cold. On warmish days when I turn the ignition on I here a strange clicking noise from under the car for just a couple of seconds. When it's very cold I don't get the noise. Please can someone tell me where this metering pump is and is it easy to change. The aux heater and temperature switch have both been changed so maybe this is the next step. Thanks
  18. It's means an error code has been registered by the ECU and requires someone to read the fault codes. It could be a number of reasons why it's come on this is why the codes need to be seen to see where the fault has originated from. As it's a petrol model you will probably have to take it to a garage.
  19. I don't know why I offer my opinion. This is not the first time I've got shot down.
  20. I would certainly get the tracking checked as it's easy to knock the alignment out. Cheaper than new tyres.
  21. I also have an aux heater question. For some reason mine won't fire up when the outside temperature is below 4C. A new heater was fitted earlier this year because of this issue. Anyone got any ideas? The temperature switch has also been changed.

  23. The electric water pump that runs after the engine is switched off? It's used to prevent hot spots building up in the engine. They go noisy when they start to wear. It's located slightly to the right of centre near the bulk head. If you are still under warranty get it done as it costs around
