  1. With reference to the engine oil, make sure it is to VW505.01 spec otherwise you can get premature camshaft wear.
  2. Sometimes the wiring looks ok but it's not. The wiring has been known to break inside the insulation. So you need the check the wiring at the tailgate again to look for breaks within the insulation. If your pull one of the wires betwen your fingers and it feels "stretchy" then there's a good chance the wiring has a break.
  3. Just guessing here but it could be worth checking the wiring on the other doors snd the tailgate.
  4. Are they Extra Load rated????
  5. The fogs lights are controlled by the light switch. With the lights on pull the switch out once for front fogs (if fitted) and twice for rear fogs, the switch will only pull out once if no front fogs fitted. The lock not working is probably a break in the wiring between the car body and door. Very common, do a search for more information. Radio codes need the serial number of the radio.
  6. This could be dry CV joints or a problem with the drive shafts. Try repacking the CV joints with the appropriate grease first.
  7. There is a 2004 Edition of the Ford TIS Disk (DVD) on various torrents.
  8. Just a thought, is the engine under tray fitted? Thinking that water might be forced into the engine bay and soaking an electrical connection somewhere. I know water ingress can affect the power steering, same area as the compressor, if the under tray is left off.
  9. Automatic Transmission Fluid
  10. Try changing the ATF first. A garage will always tell you it's knackered because they want your money.
  11. The heater/ac blower issue will more than likely be the resister pack which is located on the side of the fan assembly behind the glove box, usually green or red in colour. The wiper issue is common, it normally requires a strip down and grease up of the wiper assembly. Look in the FAQs No.45. Glow plug issue, not sure.
  12. Before you right off the gearbox try changing the ATF fluid first. I'm not saying that you will get another 240,000km though. :D
  13. Also make sure you can get extra load tyres in those rim sizes.
  14. Are you fitting genuine Ford/VW parts? From what I've read on the forum non genuine parts do not last at all well.
  15. I know some vehicles have different amount of teeth on the starter ring. Is this the case with a Galaxy? I'm sure someone on this forum will advise.
  16. It could just be the Automatic Transmission Fluid(ATF). It "burns" with age/usage. I would try getting the ATF changed first before condemning the gearbox. This would need to be done by a reputable garage as the ATF level has to be checked at a certain temperature.
  17. Oil should be to VW Spec 505.01
  18. I'd much rather hear a beep than fall out of an open door, even worse one of the kids falling out. <_<
  19. You might want to block one end of the radiator and fill with radiator flush and leave overnight. Then, as suggested, give it a long back flush.
  20. Good result guys but what impressed me as well was the the positive feedback from the original poster. Very often on this forum information is taken and no feedback is given, good or bad. This can leave some members, including me, thinking why did I bother. Please keep up the feedback, it makes everyone feel better.
  21. It could be that an air lock has cleared itself. Keep an eye on it for a couple of days, also check engine oil for signs of water.
  22. Do things improve when the car warms up? If so it may be as simple as low fluid level in the gearbox.
  23. When was the brake/clutch fluid changed? Brake/clutch fluid absorbs water over time so probably the reason everything has frozen up. I think the fluid should be changed every three years.
  24. Aux Heater - could be the temperature sensor near the wiper blade linkage. Remove it and bridge the connections and see if it works all the time. Is so I would suspect the sensor is faulty. Rear Wiper - No idea sorry.
