Hold in the odometer reset button whilst switching on the ignition. -
Yes that little plastic bit is the bit that goes missing. New switch I'm afraid unless you can find a car in a local breakers. If the window works from the driver's door check that the window disable switch is not operated, pressed in IIRC. This is fitted to stop the kids playing with the windows. If ok I would check the wiring as I mentioned. Can you put your vehicle details in your profile. That way other members will be able to offer more advice if they know the car in question.

The parking sensors module is under the front passenger seat. A leak in the rear washer pipe, near the A Pillar, is common and the module gets soaked in water. Check to see if it's wet. If so your need to repair the leaky rear wash pipe first. People have been lucky by removing the parking sensor module and letting it dry in an airing cupboard for a couple of days. The electric window switch breaking is common, I've had two break. You will need to check for broken wires in the wiring loom between the door and pillar. Once again common. I know nothing about DVD screens but I'm sure a search will reveal all as people on the forum have had problems with them. Welcome to the world of the Ford Galaxy and all it's niggly problems. Also welcome to the forum.

Mk2 Tdi Warning Light Help
chromedome replied to alan_131's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Looks like the engine management light. It could be any number of things. Try and get the fault codes read and cleared and see what comes back. On a TDI the glow plug light doubles up as the engine management light. Are you sure you are looking at a diesel or petrol? -

It is a diesel I hope? If not VAGCOM won't work on petrol engines unless it's a V6. -

A bit of advice based on my experience. You said you had the Ghia variant so therefore you must have climate control. If it's working leave it AUTO all year round. This prevents seals drying out amongst other things. I have not noticed any real problem with fuel consumption, I still get nearly 40mpg on average. It has been proven that driving above 30mph with the windows open uses more fuel than having the air conditioning on. Hope this helps and welcome to the forum. -

Central Locking Failure

Also check the fuses. I think they are marked on the plastic fuse cover. it could be a failing wire has blown something. -
Had the situation where the wiper travel was slowly getting less, a sign of the mechanism starting to seize. I removed both wiper arms and the plastic trim on the windscreen. Then removed the circlip, washer and rubber O ring. Put the wiper nut back on the spindle about half way. Spray with WD40 and switch wipers on and at the same time push down on the spindle with a piece of wood. The spindle will then gradually lower from the mechanism. When you have used all amount of travel using the spindle you can then push down on the moving mechanism bar with the piece of wood to get the spindle right out. DON'T PUT YOUR FINGERS IN THERE. Do this evenly on both wipers until the spindles have dropped right out. Clean and grease everything and make sure the spindles fit in and out of the mechanism freely. Reassemble, job done. I think the method of leaving the mechanism in situ and using the wiper motor to move the spindles whilst you are freeing them makes the job easier. It took me about an hour but don't rush and make sure you do a good job of it. Method 2 for the FAQs maybe.

Aux Drive Belt Tensioner
chromedome replied to chromedome's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Thank you. Thought it might be the other one because I have dual a/c. -
Please can someone tell me what aux belt tensioner I need for my Galaxy as GSF list two that fit my vehicle. One is about £37 and the other £90. I had a new one fitted just under a year ago by an independent. I think is was a Chinese jobby as it's started jumping about again. Only happens when extra load, like a/c, is applied. The alternator pulley is ok as it was replaced with a proper GSF part. Thanks.
