  1. ok thanks for that. Is it a case of giving it a pry with a lever to see if there is any play? to check. cheers
  2. Forgot to mention, mk2 diesel. Year 2000. I was told it was the longer shaft, but looking at them, they look the same length. ..
  3. Hi there. Quick question. ...how do you know your wishbones are gone? is there a fault showing up? Thanks.
  4. Hi chaps. I'm getting a clonk from drive shaft area when on and off the accelerator, also cv joint is knackered, so, going to take off whole drivshaft including inner bit that goes into the gearbox. I was wondering if someone could send me a 'tools needed list', as when I get going, I'm going to be tight on time + living in middle of nowhere at mo, so trying to avoid any surprises...Many thanks
  5. Mmmm. The plot thickens. Well something learned there.
  6. Ah right. I wonder why on earth someone put automatic fluid in there? Strange.
  7. Dar, shame. Did you find out what the problem was with your box, the noise?
  8. Curiosity. I originally thought this is where you put the gearbox oil, until I saw the hex plug next to it. Thanks chaps.
  9. The plate that is to the left of the geabox oil fill plug, with the 2 bolts on each side (picture attached) Thanks.
  10. Yes I'm pleased about it, just got to endure the m.o.t. saga now, see what he says ♧
  11. Hi bry. Got the motor out, and it was corroded. Freed it up a bit with plyers, and it worked again. Quietly chuffed.
  12. Thanks again bry. Ahh...heated jets....i see. Whats the wiper stalk? (The wipers actually work). yes I will check pump on reservoir. Looks like an absolute dog to get too. Thanks again.
  13. Ok thanks bry. I think I may have found the issue....
  14. Fuses ok. I'v noticed the pumps for the washers seem to be actually in the jets by the window. There are wires going to each jet. I could understand one going down, but not both at the same time? (mk2 diesel).
  15. The gizmo i am pointing at? I'm trying to trace any vacuum related hoses. I originally found a split in the servo hose, so, excitedly, i changed it, but disapointingly the brake pedal still goes stiff when pumped too hard. Although, it is better. I'v taken the protective silver plate off the bulkhead (pictured), so i can see behind, and i'v had a good listen/feel, but can't find anything obvious. Could it be the vacuum pump? or vacuum resivour? The servo hose connection where it goes into the vacuum pump is a bit wobbly. I havn't thought much of it because another galaxy up the scrapyard had the same sort of wobble on that connection, so i think it is normal. Its hard to see what sort of connection it is (servo pipe to vacuum pump), as difficult to see round there. Any help appreciated as always.
  16. Many thanks dad! I will try this if it happens again, as strangely, its started operating again?....thanks again.
  17. Hello all. Is there a fuse for this panal anywhere? Iv checked all the fuses under steering wheel, but all seem ok. Air blower works, but not air direction, or heat option, or the 3 buttons. Any clues appreciated.
  18. Hi bri. Nope cant hear motor running when trying rear either. Will have a look at fuses tomorrow. Just noticed that the heater switches panal has stopped working also. Can switch fan on, but can't select where you want air blown, and interior rear aux. Heater switch not functioning etc., was fine a couple of days ago....how odd. This car is just full of surprises!
  19. Afternoon all. Anyone experienced this before I go and investigate. Wipers still work. cheers.
  20. Could also explain why the tragic MPG??
  21. How many of these pipes should there be? Iv replaced vacuum pipe for to servo because it was split. Brake pedal still stiff and at the top after a couple of pumps, same as before. I'm thinking that maybe there is another hose split or even missing? Do the other smaller pipes effect the braking? many thanks.
  22. Not that I know off on this car. I know that its a ballache job from other galaxy, bit costly aswell, as may as well do shock and spring if going for bearing. How do I test to see if that bearing is gone? if it was, I would have thought it would be just a grinding noise when turning, rather than throwing the car off track?, so to speak...
