  1. My "work station"......... Andy
  2. Although my wife has worked for the same employer, full time and part time, since she left school in 1986 they now dont seem to be able to trace her being employed by them before 2002. Everyone in the small village where we live and work know that she has worked for them all her working life but "the computer says NO". They are trying the "last in, first out" approach to cut her hours so I was trying to find her record of tax payment etc. from when she started work. Andy. I've spoken to the IR but they only keep records for 6 years. :D Andy.
  3. Does anyone know how long the Inland Revenue keep PAYE records for? and is it possible to find out an individuals employment history? When they started work and for whom, for instance. Thanks in anticipation, Andy.
  4. Have you tried finding the parts that ARE Ford... AFAIK there aren't any under the bonnet (unless you've got a 2.3), however if you disregard the Front and rear badges, Ghia badge, interior trim and the dials, it must be: Steering wheel, stereo (mind you, the stereos in Galaxies ARE NOT the same as the ones with the same model numbers in other Fords!), five wheels on a Ghia/Zetec (or possibly 4, as the steely might be VeeDub), CD Changer, errr...that's about it! Hang on....there is that round Ford badge that sits on the engine cover in the VW circle... IIRC the number plate lights are adorned with the 'oval'.... <_< Andy.
  5. Looky here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-GALAXY-GHIA-X-2...1QQcmdZViewItem and save the hassle of DIY. :) Andy.
  6. It was registered Oct'03. How can I find out it's build date??? Would it be contained within the VIN plate?? I believe so, VIN plates are explained on TIS if you have it. Andy.
  7. Depends on the size/weight of the van really. If you stay within the advised towing limits you shouldn't have any problems. Most people who use the auto for towing suggest using the manual shift/tiptronic though so the box doesn't labour so much. Andy.
  8. Was yours built in Oct. '03 or registered then? It could have been built before 06/03. Andy.
  9. Should just add that the 'R' in question is the one between the tyre size and rim size and not one that may be part of the tyre name as in Toyo Proxes T1-R. ;) Andy.
  10. Go here for full description of tyre markings: http://www.dunloptyres.co.uk/ourTyres/car/sidewallMarkings/ The site is Dunlop specific but most for the markings will apply to all tyre makes. On Dunlop's the R signifies a radial tyre. ;) Andy.
  11. I'd be looking for a bit more weight on the tow ball, somwhere between 60 and 70 kgs. If you go too light by putting more weight in the rear of the caravan you will find the rear of the car trying to lift. The caravan should ride either level or slightly nose down but never nose up. It is recommended that the nose weight is 7% of the caravan's ALW, usually between 50 and 80 kgs. Andy.
  12. There's a set of Mk1 column stalks including the radio remote here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Galaxy-Ghia-Col...1QQcmdZViewItem
  13. The plug for the trailer wiring on Mk1's is inside the right hand jack compartment, tucked down by the back of the rear lights. I dont think the Mk2's had one. The correct wiring for the black plug is: Pin 1 yellow- LH indicator Pin 2 Blue- rear fog lamp Pin 3 White- Earth return Pin 4 Green- RH indicator Pin 5 Brown- RH tail and no. plate light Pin 6 Red- Brake lights Pin 7 Black- LH tail and no. plate light. The correct wiring for the grey plug will depend on the age of your caravan as since 2000 the wiring in caravans has been altered to prevent the fridge running down the car battery when the engine is not running. Pin 1 Yellow- Reversing lamps (if fitted) Pin 2 Blue- Battery charging (pre 2000) Pin 3 White- Earth return for pins 2&4 Pin 4 Green- Power supply Pin 5 Brown- Spare Pin 6 Red- Fridge Pin 7 Black- Earth return for pin 6 On post 2000 fittings Green is live with the ignition and Red is only live with the engine running. ;) Andy.
  14. Hi Matt, just an obvious question but have you used that socket before?, could it have been like that from new? ;) Andy.
  15. I've just had 7 windows done on my Maverick for

  19. Feel along the flat plastic strip below the glovebox and there should be a rectangular blanking cap. If you gently prise out the cap it should have a clip on the back of it for that plug to fit into. As you have the wiring you could replace the blanking plate with a footwell light. Andy.
  20. Is that 'Coachstyle' at The Gibb? :27: Andy.
  21. Ask BigD to describe the colour of his Gal as his sig. states he too has a Cuirass Mistral Blue one. What year and model is your Gal? Andy.
  22. More like hedgehog!! ;)
  23. Hi, recently had the same problem on my Maverick, traced it to a bent pin on the alternator where the plug is attached. On the Mav. the plug has three wires and it was one of these that was not connecting properly causing the intermittant fault. Might be worth a look, especially as the plug must have recently been dis-connected when your alternator was changed. :D Andy.
  24. Here's a little test for agile motoring minds: Abbreviations! what do they mean? A list taken from the NEW Galaxy brochure; FFS IVDC CCD IPS ACC FA EBA DEATC CFC ESP ABS EBD EPB HPAS EHPAS PATS TPMS AFS :D :D  Answers on a post card please...........
  25. I've had 3 Gals, 2 Mk1's and a Mk2 and they have all had to have reinforced tyres. I would imagine that the Alhambra would need the same. :D Andy.
