Well air con has been fixed again. Shock horror
-
It all depends on what you have fitted & wheel size. It's all about load on the tyre. I have conti's CH90's which are re-inforced 15" 205/60's

Well mine went in today. Got a call this afternoon saying that a large pipe that runs to the evaporator had split. David Cook SEAT garage said that never experienced this before and wasn't connected to all my other problems. Can't do till week Tuesday & weren't sure how long it would take.!!! I got back on to SEAT Cust Services and told them that I was broke and I expected them to meet most, if not all of the costs based off all my earlier problems. Anyway they were already looking at doing that and had asked the garage to send a special form in. We shall see :D

Cheers everyone for your views. Ps I think the lights on the Sharan now are hideous.

To lose the gas in the first place indicates a problem somewhere, presuming the system was OK when you got the car. Don't take any **** and insist they put it right and involve customer Services as a back up. It's worked OK for me so far!!!

Cheers Rusty, What did you pay for the car & Warranty?
-
My brother-in-law has decided after many trips in my Alhambra that it is the ideal car for him as they now want to foster 1 or 2 children and already have 1 child. They are on a tight budget & will have about 8K to spend. I've had a quick look for them and you can get a Diesel facelift Shalaxy about this price, downside is that they are high milage. I personally don't think that is a problem for a diesel as we know that they can go on forever as long as you have the maintenance & service details. On the other hand you can get a good low mileage pre-facelift Alhambra which seem better spec'd that the Ford & VW. My personal pref is to go for a later model with PDI engine but ensure that all is OK especially the AC!!!! and try and get a 12 month warranty that will cover all items. Anybody have any experience or thoughts?? Get fed up of being the taxi!!!
-
Mine goes in Thurs, I love the car but I have been put off by AC reliability. You really need it, really missed it these last few days & with all this rain had plently of steamed-up windows.
-
well I've had 6 month's trouble free AC after all my earlier problems, Been using the system all the time and has been great this summer. That was until yesterday afternoon!! Waiting to turn out of a road I suddenly noticed a funny smell and then was surrounded in a white cloud of smoke outside the car like I was coming through the doors in Star in their Eyes. Oh dear I thought and the vents went warm and the compressor stopped. I have contacted SEAT Customer Services again. Why are these systems so poor????????

Bones, I guess car is pre-facelift model which will be 110. 2000 Facelifts carry Pumpe Duse 115 engine with 6 speed box. I had trouble fitting my flaps, asked a dealer in the end to do them when having my air-con fixed. As far as power is concerned all the pull will be between 2000-3000 RPM. Gaz

Booked Service & Cambelt Change
gazza007 replied to gazza007's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
Car went in to Hobin Preston on Monday morning, got a nice new Ibiza to play with and to run the little ones to Blackpool. When I went to collect, it was still in workshop. After Sales Manager said that Pin on new belt tensioner had snapped & they would have to fit a new one and they would have to keep it over night. (Good job it didn't happen on way home). Anyway he promised to deliver the car personally last night to South Manchester even though he would have to drive back up to his home in Lancaster. They have also replaced my Webasto Aux Heater FOC, which failed earlier this year. They had a word with SEAT who agreed that it shouldn't have failed. I'm not sure every dealer would try & do this for you, I think they're at least -
If it has failed, it should be done under warranty?
-
Condenser should be covered under parts warranty. Basically you will have to get hard & speak to Ford Cust Services yourself. 50% isn't good enough just push hard & I'm sure you will get results. Good Luck

It takes a lot of Chemistry to remove the heat from the air & will take a long time to get things cool. I find if you can drive for a bit with windows open to release the build up of air, things work much better. Interestingly I have a brand new Ibiza on loan as my major Service & belt change is taking place. The Ibiza's air is very similar in output terms to bamma but as it is much smaller & less glass area it does cool the interior quicker.

Saw it too & had same thought

Booked Service & Cambelt Change
gazza007 replied to gazza007's topic in Dealer Service and Reliability (Galaxy)
I said I'd give them a mention. Is it easy to find? -
Decided that it was time to get Cambelt changed now Alhambra has hit 50K and been 10K since last Service when dealer should have told me that Cam belt & tensioner needed to be done then. Gave SEAT Hobin a call at Preston as didn't fancy Manchester dealers. SA Intruder said that they were OK. Also called a few other dealers for comparison. They worked out to be the cheapest but I manged to knock them down further. Major Service & Cambelt change

No 4 is full blast. I've gone paranoid. I keep sticking the probe in to check that it's OK. Just got back from Bath to South Man. Was able to keep nice & fresh on No1 or 2 setting all 4 face vents open with distribution between face & feet.
-
I agree with fixmyford, you described exactly what my problem was, which the techie at SEAT had seen before, he also said that it was hard to detect with a sniffer. They replaced it all due to the corrosion. This was after another dealer spent 12 months changing everything else and making warranty claims.
-
Have you ever tried blowing air on the back of your hand, then repeating it but huffing( you know what I mean) the latter feels warmer although temp from lungs is the same???????
-
The figures that Ian posted are from a SEAT tech manual that I was sent and states that all vents are to be shut apart from centre left. This is where the probe goes. Car has to be out of the sun & fan speed set to No 4. AC should then be engaged and output temps tested. I have noticed that the left side is slightly cooler than the right. Mind you I think its for a manual system, although I would imagine climate control should still give off similar figs. On a separate issue I noticed some paddles inside my vents. Should these move?when I move the air direction dial? My air does change direction when I move the dial, just wondered if they had any purpose, look like they have some kind of coil spring at the edge when I looked with torch.
