  1. He's a good guy does various jobs for a few people at work. Unknown to me he was telling me that another colleague had bought a 2.8 Gal and nothing was working properly. He told me that he had been driving out of work to have a look at when he and hit a pot hole when the windows went down and the interior lights came on. I've shown him the site and pointed him to ECU footwell problems, he was very impressed.
  2. Just had front & back Pads change by colleague at work. Charged me
  3. So that I can monitor my air-con performance I rang round several SEAT dealerships with various results. Eventually I managed to get a chart faxed to me with the recomended temps and test instructions. Make sure Vehicle is out of sunlight. Set blower to No 4 and dial to coolest. Close all vents apart from centre 2 face vents. Run the Engine at 2000rpm. Insert thermometer in left centre vent and engage AC. Temps should be in following range. Ambient temp Output temp 18 8-12 20 7-11 25 6-10 30 5-9 35 4.5-8.5
  4. Just gave Sam on service desk at Bells a piece of my mind SA. She claimed it must have been done with the pressure washer when they valeted the car. I said it was never valeted or cleaned!! Told her that they would have to come & fit door/window trim at home as fed up of going up there. Anyway 3 years old at end of month so won't be going back unless the air-con fails again. My understanding is that parts and repairs carry a 2 year warranty. SEAT UK also called to confirm that repairs had taken place Out of interest SA where do you reside.
  5. Wife just came back with car after spending 2 hours on M60!!! Put probe in vent and running at 8 degrees C. From other post I guess this about right. Lets hope it stays that way. Mind you they've bent the black window trim on rear OS door, god knows how. So another visit back..
  6. Just had a call from the Garage telling me that the Air-Con has been fixed and that they have replaced the compressor as a result of an electrical fault. Let's hope that it was the problem all along, it worries me that it may not be the cause because as we all know that compressors fail with no gas. Surly they would have spotted this on previous visits. Will just have to monitor the situation and hope for the best!!!
  7. Know him too & his business development manager Pete. Always took the Laguna when I had problems. Put some stuff up at work on noticeboard a few years ago and he got a good response. Probably take it there for first MOT. Anyway Bells tomorrow, keeping my fingers crossed this time. Will post results later this week in air-con thread. See you around
  8. On one of my many visits when I came to collect the car it had been blocked in by a demo Ibiza and the salesman had gone home with the keys. took 6 of us about 30 mins with various shuffling of other cars before I could squeeze out. I'm going to be cheeky with them as I have a scratch on the rear bumper that I badly tried to touch up and ask them to have a look. Hopefully they may fix it for free like they did with the door dent. Once I'm finally satisfied with the air-con I'm going to use a VAG independant, W Connollys or J Delany's, they have always been reasonable when previous cars has been out of warranty and seem to care more.
  9. Cheers SA, it will be interesting how the Circus at Hyde get on next week!!!
  10. My front Pad warning has just come on. Can somebody tell me roughly how many miles I can do without risk to disks. I knew they needed doing. A friend of mine who is good with cars has agreed to do them, unfortunately car is with Bells Seat next week to hopefully & finally fix my air-con failures(See air con reliability thread) so will have to wait. I've decided to ask them for a written report on what they do with the air-con, it will also be interesting to see if they bring in an independant engineer as promised by the MD.
  11. Funny you should mention this. I've had some problems with my Air-con(manual system).(See separate post). I've also noticed that I'm getting very slight warm air through the vents (air con off) and the engine seems warmer to the feel but no signs of over heating. I'm just wondering if my Air-con problems are being caused by a general problem with ventalation system in general. I presume there are various valves & sensors that come into play when selecting air-con on/off or just general use of vents etc. I'm wondering if the air con may be OK and is being fed warm air or dodgy sensor info. On the other hand though it should blow cold if the engine is cold which it isn't. I just hope the dealers do fix it and bring in the independant engineer as promised. I've been told that cold air should blow out at about 6-8 celcius, can someone confirm this. I'm going to put my temp sensor in the vent when it gets fixed!!!! and if it's still warm it will be staying at the dealership......
  12. I've always fancied a CD player in the Alahambra but have been reluctant to pay
  13. Just returned from France too, fully loaded with roof box and the Mrs & 4 kids. My TDi 115 has averaged just over 40mpg. I was worried at 1 point going uphill on the E60/N165 to Quimper, I started getting a vibrartion through the steering in 6th Gear doing about 80. It seems OK now, perhaps it was turbulance and my heavy loading. I also banged the tyre pressures up to the recommended loading which made things a bit hard. One bit I did enjoy was waiting in the ferry queue at Plymouth and everybody comparing each others VW/Ford/Seat, the different types of roofbars, boxes & cycle carriers. It was nice to see so many of this car type from N reg plates to current. It proves how popular and liked this particular vehicle is. The numbers outweighed all other MPV types.
  14. I've had various problems with my Alhambra Air Con losing gas during the last 6 months. Had about 6 visits to the dealer. They have done all the usual tests but never found where the leak is. Just returned from France and guess what! it's gone again, when I most needed it. I have called Seat and the MD of the Dealership now. He has offered to take the car for a week and get an independant air con specialist to look at the problem. Not going in till 15th so will report back.
  15. Just rang the company and discovered that it is different. No 77 diagram.
  16. I'm off in my Alhambra to France for a family holiday this weekend. I bought some light dflectors from Halfords but it doesn't mention year 2000 model onwards in the fitting diagram. Is it OK to use the Galaxy or Sharan 2000 recomendation?
  17. Had a look at pads. About 4mm on front & 5mm on back, so reckon I've got a about another 2-3k left. Intrestingly the front pads haven't got sensors on. I imagine that the previous owner didn't bother ot have sensor pads fitted after the originals were changed.
  18. To be honest SA, I've heard various reports from the other Greater Manchester Dealers. Lincoln has been very helpful and as you say a bit more TLC from the clowns would make all the difference.
  19. Bells Hyde. To be honest they haven't been difficult, the staff have been helpful and been happy to collect the car. They did admit that I've not been the only one with problems. Engine was clean after the service & oil level OK which was only
  20. Just had the Alahambra back after Service & continued Air con problems. Service manager told me that the they didn't put enough gas in last week. he says should have had 750 grams but they only put 700 grams in last time. Any further problems and I'll be off to another dealership or independant specialist before the warranty runs out. Told them that I'd lost confidence in them.
  21. My Alhambra 1.9 PDI is being serviced today and the garage has called to say I need the Pads doing & want
  22. I got my Thule bars & feet incl locks from skidrive for
  23. Queried price at my regular dealer and they told me that I only require a intermediate 10K service as the car had the normal 40K service done at 32.5K when I bought it. Good job I didn't go elsewhere.
  24. Just had my Alhambra back from Garage after air con had stopped pumping out cold air. I had a pipe replaced earlier this year and a further re-gas about 6 weeks ago. They tell me that they have flushed out the system, done a flourecent dye test and replaced the pollen filter and re-gassed again but couldn't find any leak. The air is colder but I've known other cars pump out air much colder than mine. Am I just being paranoid or is the Air-Con a weakness in the VW/Ford/Seat MPV's. To be honest I will see how it goes then if I have any further problems, it may be worth getting an independant specialist to have a look before the warranty expires.
  25. There are a few discussions about tyres on the forum. If you perform a search for 'tyres' with last 365 days selected you should find plenty of infomation. I personally spent a bit of time researching on the net and speaking to people before replacing my Continentals CH90 reinforced. Ended up buying the same tyre and have been very happy with them. I would have bought off the net but I discovered that most fitters want to charge
