Its a diesel, at long as its got something resembling oil slosshing about in the sump it will be fine. Its done over 150k all the oilways are probably gunged up needs some black water thin enough to get through there. I bet you the engine would seize if I gave it some new thick oil.

I calcuated my mpg from fuel in miles done average 42.3mpg Although it agreed with my computer 42.2mpg ( more or less the same ). Therefore I assume my computer is fairly accurate and I would assume others show the same accuracy.

You might find the relay cheaper at a VW dealer. Worth comparing prices.
