I thought the limit for headlamps was 55w ( although to be honest I have had difficulty finding this stated ) and anything above this was illegal ?

On the subject of the 2.0l and its economy.......... Does the 2.3l get better or worse mpg than the 2.0l ?

Automatics much nicer to drive.......why have a dog and bark yourself ! Can be expensive if they go wrong, and if buying secondhand you don't know what state its in. Have seen issues with gearbox overheating when towing..... Little difference on economy.....you tend to drive less aggresivly and use less throttle. The difference in mpg is minimal. Given the choice I would go for an Auto........I currently drive a manual Gal and my last one was an Auto......I made a bad choice there.

And the difference between HID's and Xenon's is ? Apparently they are the same thing, Xenon is the gas used in HID lamps. The only other type are Halogen Lamps which have didly sqaut to do with Xenon.

It comes on to warn you that your cruise control is turned on......not necessarily active. If it doesn't come on it is most likely turned off in the ECU, you can turn it on again using vagcom or similar. Obviously if you don't have cruise control then it won't light up..... Also IIRC MK1's dont have this light on their tacho...it is a MK2 feature only.
