Remember it has a good resale value as well, so even though it may seem expensive its a lot cheaper than getting a dealer to do it.

What Type Of Locking Do I Have
big_kev replied to sparky123's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
VW's Instructions for Infra-Red Remotes below..... If a vehicle with infrared operation cannot be unlocked there is a distinct possibility that the code for key and control unit are no longer synchronized. This is possible if the key sender button is pressed several times outside of the range of the system. The vehicle key must then be resynchronized. The synchronizing sequence must not take longer than 20 seconds. If the vehicle is equipped with electric windows then the windows must be closed for the synchronizing sequence. Insert key in door lock and turn forwards 3 times (to unlock). The key must be held for 0.5 seconds in unlock position each time. Remove key from door lock, press and hold key lock button and point key in direction of interior mirror within 5 seconds. For checking procedure, the warning lamp lights up in driver's door trim panel. Press unlock button 3 times then release lock button. The key is recoded. For checking, the warning lamp flashes in driver's door trim panel. Three further keys can additionally be coded. To do this the last two steps of the synchronizing sequence must be repeated. Synchronizing the second and all further keys must be started within 15 seconds of completing the previous synchronizing sequence. These sequences must also not take longer than 20 seconds -

I think you may need have the ignition on to resynch the infra-red remotes. -
It definitely won't autoscan using the shareware version...see link below http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/vag-functions.html

Some of the faults will be historical ( could be from a long time ago ) and may just have been caused by maintenance work....things being unplugged etc. If the faults clear ok and don't come back then all is probably fine. Don't know why you can't connect to Module 3 ABS ? might just be a bit twitchy, worth looing at your ports setting and try reducing the baud rate.

4000kg minus 2510kg equals 1,490kg. Therefore the maximum towing weight recommended by the manufacturer is 1,490kg. Insurance and police would take a dim view if this was exceeded......the legal aspect of this is somewhat of a grey area. Remember this is the MAM ( or gross weight of the trailer/caravan, as plated on the trailer/caravan ). Your caravan will have a plate on it.....otherwise its illegal to have on the road. There is no legal requirement regarding the weight ratio of the towing vehicle to trailer......anyone who tells you otherwise is mistaken......the 85% rule is a guideline and the 100% rule is just made up. Also worth noting is that the maximum legal weight that can be safely towed is 25 times the noseweight......this is a legal requirement. Assuming the noseweight on the Galaxy is 75kg then the legal maximum weight is 1,875kg.....exceeding this is illegal....no ifs or buts. Assuming the noseweight to be 85kg would give a maximum weight of 2,125kg Hope this information helps

Ford Galaxy Meets Renault Megan
big_kev replied to SteveB's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
If a vehicle has a fault within 6 months of purchase ( from a trader ) you can demand a repair from them. It is up to the trader to prove that the fault did not exist at time of purchase, otherwise they are obliged to either repair/replace refund etc. This is legally binding under the sale of goods act ( as amended ). May not apply to consumable items, exhausts, tyres etc. ie. they should be able to show you some kind of test/report on the gearbox which took place before sale. Trading Standards should be your first port of call if they refuse. Any warranty they give is in addition to these rights not instead of them. -
Hi Chris , welcome to the forum. You might find the filter and fluid cheaper from VW and/or VW suppliers as both your engine and gearbox are VW not Ford......in fact pretty much your whole car is VW. I would be wary of changing the Autobox fluid unless you are 100% certain it needs it. Try http://www.gsfcarparts.com/index.asp and look under VW Sharan for ATF oil Well done with the booster heater upgrade....you need to speak to Mirez and compare notes.

I would open the key up and check that the pats chip is still in there. It has been known for the key to come apart and the chip to fall out ( whilst in the house ) and the next day of course it wouldn't start....of course the wife and kids denied ever touching it. Best to check to be sure.

Be aware that you can't drive with the picnic trays in position....possible decapitation hazard.....depends how much you like the kids... :25: Also the general opinion on these trays is that they are pretty crap... If you still want them it is probably easiest to change the front seats....get the rotating ones if you don't already have them....these really are useful......my wife sits in the back with the front seat turned around and uses it to put her legs on .

Where it says turn key to unlock position 3 times....it can actually be 4 times...as on mine. The Red Led should then light up.

Climate Control Problems With Manual A/c
big_kev replied to eddy72's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You probably won't be able to attach pictures yet until you have posted more. What was the VW part number ? -
Its still the cheapest and simplest to use vagcom and look at what faults are being reported. You could be chasing your tail for ages if it turns out to just be a stuck hot/cold flap or something equally common . The diagnostics will definitely identify the cause of the problem.

Analogue Clock & Ac Problem
big_kev replied to Stu^'s topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Definitely sounds like a fuse problem .......or possibly dimmer switch ? Maybe F32 -
The falshing display indicates a problem with the climate control system. It could be low gas pressure but it could also be a whole hist of other faults....maybe just a stuck flap.....it may even be unrelated.....dodgy alternator....speedo sensor. The simplist and cheapest way is to run diagnostics ( Vagcom ) on the system. This will identify the fault. Which part of the midlands are you in.....someone may be willing to help. Year, model, engine etc would also help.

Haven't you got an economy setting ( ECON ) as opposed to ( AUTO ). The only difference is that the compressor is not engaged.
