  2. Could even just be a dodgy brake or clutch switch......these can cause havoc with the ecu.

  10. There may still exist an intermitant lack of spark problem which may have been the original issue. There may still be a dodgy relay or other eletrical connection. However main thing is that it is working again.

The Red Handbrake warning light indicates a fault with your braking system....not good :D The ABS orange light will automatically come on as if your normal braking system is faulty there is no chance of the ABS working correctly.......however this does not indicate a fault with the ABS. Can you still ride with both lights on :D Of course you can....just remember that you may have no braking system :o

  14. Perfectly normal....don't worry about it. The early aux heaters ......probably all the Mk1's and maybe some of the early Mk2's have no communication to the aux heater module. And therefore it cannot be diagnosed using Vagcom ( or any other ). Probably just needs a new or cleaner glowplug....or maybe the fuel pump is knackered. You should be able to pick up a fault with your aircon unit flashing as this will show up using vagcom. It may be low pressure or could be something minor. Also is the fuse for your sockets under the drivers seat ?

  16. Would this be causing the injectors to stay open and the engine to flood though? Yes it would, If there is no spark then the engine will flood. The correct starting procedure is throttle pedal to the floor (and keep it there ) turn key to start engine.......pumping the pedal will flood it again. If the engine does not start there is no spark occuring......which is likely to be the original problem......however this could be down to just wet, dirty plugs. The fact that it worked fine for a weak does make it most likely to be a dodgy electrical connection either relay or similar.
  17. No it didn't :) The ODBII interface at the end of the lead recieves its power from the Car ignition feed. If its not plugged in then it does not exist to the computer or any other software. All that is being tested is that there is a working port on the computer.

  19. Dave, Your driving a VolksWagen Sharan V6 (with a Ford Galaxy sticker on it ) the ebay leads will be just fine.

  21. Have you actually replaced the Battery yet ? Your old battery appears to be knackered ( technical term ) and as such will you will not be able to recharge it as it will not hold a charge ( assuming it is knackered ). Jump starting may also not work in this case as the old faulty battery will draw all the power from the other cars battery and there will not be enough left to turn your starter motor. If you bump start the car ( if you have a convenient hill, or a couple of fit young blokes ) you will most likely find it starts up straight away......however if you turn the engine off it will still not start as your battery is knackered. Go get a new battery....BUT BEWARE....the one you mentioned previously is for the petrol engined Galaxy's......you need the diesel one....HSB096....browse Halfords website again.

  23. It does sound like the windscreen is the most likely culprit. See if you can simulate the fault by pouring water it. By working your way down you should be able to locate the fault.
