  1. Its a VW engine either a 90PS AHU ( manual gearbox only ) or 110PS AFN (Auto or Mnaual ) It is ODB2 compliant ( may have some specific VW add-ons ). Give your scantool a try and see what you get. Normally people use VagCom..... ( google it ! ).
  2. How do I tell which type of engine? It's a petrol 2.3 varaint Maybe I lied ...... :) You have a ford 2.3l engine in a VW body. Go with Marcostig's recommendations
  3. Vagcom should be fine....I think you have a Tdi
  4. NOPE .......No chance what so ever
  5. Back in the Big Time :) Pity Jim's not here when we stuff the Arsenal ( again ! ).

  9. Living dangerously :(
  10. You have a mkII galaxy, not a mk 1. Different setup I think. He has a P reg Mk1 Nice pic by the way
  11. Personally I would check relay 167 ( 2nd layer bottom right ). Try unplugging it and plugging it in again.....or tap it gently whilst trying to start.
  12. Hold on ..............Eastbourne  Ain't that..... the kettle calling the teapot ?
  13. Happy Birthday SK........How I wish it were true..
  14. Stick something in the water reservoir......a thermometer would be the best choice.....but a finger would give an approximate ( its hotter/colder than the air ) reading.
  15. You tend to find that most independants are a hell of a lot cheaper and just as ( if not more ) reliable than dealers.
  16. First of all..... Hi and welcome to the forum... Secondly.... Assuming that this is the clear plastic cover with the fuse number written on it....then just grab each end and pull very hard.....and wiggle.....the cover....not yourself. Give it some wellie !
  17. Its most likely that someone the PATS chip has fallen out of the remote key when someone has changed the battery in it......or possibly the chip has been decoded. Either way the simplest short term solution is to nick the chip out of the flat key and put it into the remote key ( glue it in ! ). You should be able to find a locksmith in your area who can recode the chip if it is still in the remote to your car. Click HERE for further info.
  18. I think your key may be faulty.....it is not sending any signal to the car. It probably thinks it is...hence the correct flashing sequence. I assume that the LED on the drivers door does not flash to confirm coding and just sits there waiting for you to press the key buttons.
  19. The belt that powers the steering also powers other items, Alternator, air-Con, tensioner bearings etc. It could be the belt is loose or worn or one of the other items is worn out. It obviously could also be the power steering.....but check the belt first.
  20. Could be a faulty instrument panel......or maybe just a bad earth connection.
  21. Does it bump start..... If so then its a battery/starter problem. If not then its a fuel problem. If it starts and cuts out then its an immobiliser problem. I am assuming manual gearbox ?
  22. Just seen the pics..........are you sure you want it back :(
  23. The brake and clutch switches are located above the pedals ( can easily be seen ). You should be able to engage cruise control at any speed above approx. 20mph. Switch Crusie control on and when at required speed press the set button....
  24. Instructions attached below MK2_Cruise_Control.pdf
