Front Heater Blower
big_kev replied to fivenecks's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Open the glove box, on either side you can see the opening restrictors unclip these so the glove box opens fully, then pop it out of the hinges at the bottom. -
I take it non of them worked for you then BJ

Happy Birthday Mirez, Apologies for this being late..... x x x

Yep it appears to be totally fubar.... I am sure however this is temporary. You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.... ......or indeed all of them.

Sadly you have gone to a typical Ford Dealer who has no idea about any vehicles. There is no Red key for your vehicle....he is talking rubbish. Any decent Auto locksmith should be able to cut new keys for you and reprogram the PAT's chips. Example link below....there are hundreds of others. http://www.ford-car-keys.com/ p.s. Almost certainly the key number will be on at least one of the vehicle locks....or plated on the vehicle.

The pic top right...underneath "Recent Status Updates"... :)

looks very very good......a Job well done. pity about the dodgy pic....

The differences between the Mk1 & Mk2 are negligible. It was just a facelift and slightly modified Tdi engine....debatable whether it was much better. Everything else mechanically is pretty much the same. Also consider the Seat Alhambra and VW Sharan which are exactly the same vehicle with the same body and Tdi engines and just some minor cosmetic differences.

Recirculated Air Flap
big_kev replied to Gberry11's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Its can be accessed from below the dash, can't remember which side.....one side is the up/down flap and the other is the recirc......the nasty one is the hot/cold flap which is on top of the heater unit and almost inaccesible without removing the dash. Should therefore be easy enough to get to....hopefully someone will tell you which side its on. -
http://www.debtbombshell.com/ When do you think they will send the heavies around :(

Auto's are lovelly to drive.....what's the matter with her....wives....you can't understand them....and its seen as unsporting to kill them....sorry did I say that aloud :o Good point about hellish repair costs though... :) Green is unlucky....have had 2 nasty crashes one in a green Seirra and one in a green Gal.

Its probably on a big label at the front of the engine compartment....

You will find all the diesels sluggish when changing from the 2.3 petrol the Tdi's just don't accelerate the same way. There is a significant difference in performance between the 90ps and the 115ps. The difference in moving up from the 115 to the 130 is negligible in comparison. Don't know about the 150 as I have never driven one...sounds a bit gimmicky to me though. The 115 is definitley the one to go for as they don't have the "boy racer" attraction of the 130 and the 150 and so they will be available at a better price. You could always go for an Auto ( at least you know it will be at least a 115 ). Obviosly fuel economy and "performance" don't go well together,if you drive it like an old man you will get better economy and poorer performance.....where as if you thrash it ...! Don't buy a green one :o

Hi david, There is no indication on the dash on the MK1 vehicles. I believe this appeared on the later MK2's....probably 2003 on ish ! Can you put your vehicle type 1.9 tdi...2.0l petrol....GLX etc in your signature it helps for anyone answering your questions.
-
Yes there is a fuel cut off solenoid.......not 100% sure of the position on your engine but on the similar MK1 model it is high up near the front centre of the engine bay. Should be easy enough to find.....look for the fuel line in and out.
-
Your air-conditioning is not working.....most likely due to leak. If your lucky you may be able to get it topped up.....most people are unlucky. Do you have manual or auto. climate control......ie switches for hot/cold fan speed or an electronic unit.

Seriously ....I still don't get it :) Now in my younger days I got it a lot... :)

Don't know what you mean by a VAG cycle carrier. If its the internal type then if it fitted a MK2 it will definitely fit a Mk1. If its an MK2 external type then it will most likely fit the Mk1 as well. Any chance of a pic ?

Mounting further back would be the logical move as far as streamlining is concerned.

Nice

Heater/aircon Resistance Pack
big_kev replied to acecard's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Nah...a good fire never hurt anyone ! Obviously it is the blower motor that is causing the device to trip. The motor may be faulty or it may be just being run flat out with no air con assisted cooling for the resistor pack. 240 degrees is not very high for a fuse. -
Heater/aircon Resistance Pack
big_kev replied to acecard's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Go get a 240 degree one then ! I would avoid soldering it ........clue in the word "thermal". Can it be crimped in place ?
