Most men get upset/get annoyed/don't understand ( take your pick )about a homosexual male. Women on the other hand see all men as sexual perverts and therefore are less likely to be too bothered about this.

Race and colour are something you are born with and can do nothing about. Sexual orientation is a moral choice....or possibly an immoral choice depending on you point of view. Sexual orientation ( according to the law ) is something that is only a matter for the individual concerned and no one elses.....don't personally agree with that.....never mind. It would be "worse" in this context to make a note of an immigrants sexuality as ( again according to the law) it has no bearing on the suitability of the person to come into this country. From this point of view you may as well say short or tall people. Race and colour need to be monitored as it is allowable to distinguish between them and discrimination is still legally acceptable in certain circumstances.

I agree with Seatkid on this....the most likely reason for failure was incorrect fitting. The cost of repair will be difficult to decide until after inspection of the damage.

The only difference between ECON and AUTO is that on ECON the compressor is disconnected hence there is no "chilled" air available.... Therefore the coldest air available will be the outside temperature....although this may be sufficient when it is cold outside. The ECON bit refers to the fact that the compressor will cause the engine to use additional fuel to run it on AUTO.

Do not confuse racism with nationalism they are not the same. For example I am white skinned european ( to use the race terminoliogy)..if I complain about other white skinned europeans coming over here as economic migrants then there is no way that this could be described as racist.....it would be nationalist....eg wanting the best for my country. I live in an area where there are a great percentage of people of Asian descent ( mainly India & Pakistan ). These people are mainly 2nd & 3rd generation since immigrating here and speak perfect English and abide by the laws of the land.....in fact most of them contribute greatly to the wellbeing of the country. If i were to criticise these PURELY on account of their race then this would be racist. Sadly too much is made nowadays of racism and most of the supposed anti-racism laws etc actually promote racism by highlighting the differences. A classic example is the "black" guy who will supposedly be the next president of the USA. This chap has a "white" mother and a "black" father.....therefore he is "black". What utter racism this preaches when obviously he is either neither or both....he can't be one or the other. The only way to get rid of racism is to stop promoting it....stop highlighting what "race" someone is. Anyone using the terms white or black is promoting racist views. Anyone using the term "foreigner" should not be branded a racist purely because of that.

First check the plugs on the back of the central junction box ( fuse/relay box) make sure none of them have come loose. Check the wire ( I think its Red/Black) coming of position 3 on the ignition switch...again make sure its still connected.

As far as I can see its a direct feed ( no fuses ) from the ignition switch...position 3...to the starter motor relay. Either the switch is faulty or the wiring is broken between it and the relay. Is the relay ( solenoid) on these built onto the starter motor ? If so you should be able to put a direct battery feed onto it and this will operate the relay and turn the starter motor....MAKING SURE THE CAR IS NOT IN GEAR FIRST ! If the battery is flat or the starter motor is jammed or faulty you should still hear the solenoid click.

Ooops! my mistake you have a 97 R reg not 98.....different fuse & relay setup. back in a mo.

Assuming that fuse 26 is ok try checking relay R14 ( can't remember what number it has on top of it check drawing in link below) Link to fuses & relays Mk1 1998

It indicatsa fault somewhere in the air-con/heating system. If your air-con is still blowing out cold then it is most likely a stuck or disconnected flap either in the front or the back. Best bet is to use vag-com to detect which flap is not working.

It is...its going to get colder.

I thought these were Mk2 only ?

Has anyone used one of these ( plugged into the aux. ) and is it any good....I know the FM radio version is worse than crap.
