  1. try here Mk3 Handbooks
  2. I've just had a thought.....wow that was strange ! Anyhow back to the thought.....what does it say in the MK2 users manual ? Yeh I know this should maybe have been checked before . My 1997 Mk1 Manual doesn't mention the light....neither does my 1998 update. In the Mk2 manual does it mention the light and if so does it state whether it works on active or on/off ?
  3. Its a VW RCD 200 ( possibly! )
  4. I hope he's kicking your backside... A dull and boring day.......try being up to your ass in packing boxes and sorting junk out for a car boot..
  5. I didn't want to embarass him by saying that....he's getting old you know.
  6. Having a bad day are we.. What's upset you now then.....? If its something I have done please let me know and I will cease forthwith.
  7. Either..... you have to pick an option from all three, in your case "none of the above" for the first one and "none of the above" / whatever from the last two. or nik has banned you personally from voting.....quite possible that.
  8. Could be right .....it will be interesting to see if all the ones with a cc light are after that date.
  9. Must be more than 9 members with cruise control....
  10. Yes it is basically a vw design, however is it known how much of an input Ford had into the programming and customisation of the ECU ? Now that you mention the Golf....I'll be back !
  11. Hi Jag, Hold on.....isn't that what terrorists do to planes ? Welcome to the forum....and I wouldn't pick my brain...
  12. It would certainly help to know the year of the vehicle. From the information given a MK1 does seem likliest. Also when you say that your manual shows the wrong fuse and relay layouts, this would lead me to think you have 1998 Galaxy and a manual for the earlier galaxies....the correct manual was not released until late 1998 early 1999. The 1998 and after, MK1 Galaxys have a redesigned fuse and relay box where the fusebox flips down to reveal the relays behind.....touch of deja vu there.. . When I say 1998 there is a bit of overlap as some late 1997 galasxys may have the later fusebox and some early 1998 Galaxys may have the earlier one. Nigels posted link will apply to both the 1998+ Mk1's and the Mk2's with regard to the pictures of the fusebox and first level of relays.
  13. I would class that as straight from the factory.....the cluster just arrived a bit late.. :) You may need to tell thick people like me that they have to place a tick in each option. Obviously at least 2 of them will be "none of the above" And some Joker has just ticked "none of the above" to all of them.....Hmmm. Find out who it was Nik and we can slap him about a bit later on. Please do not vote if you don't have a Galaxy, Sharan or Alhambra with Cruise Control as it is a wee bit pointless ..
  14. Does your fusebox not unclip and swing forward.....it takes a bit of force... revealing the relay board behind ?
  15. I think they may have had some input....otherwise this same argument would apply to the whole vehicle ? They are bad....but not that bad, surely ? The only purpose for the lamp would be to indicate that cruise control is active. Even Ford ( or the company working on behalf of Ford, before we go down that road again ) would get at least the basic operation correct. To me....this appears to be a classic Ford ( blah de blah ) error. Either they fit the wrong console ........no cc lamp on speedo. Or they have fitted the right console but never programmed the ECU to enable the cc lamp. Or what appears to be the commonest scenario....enabled the cc lamp but done it incorrectly and it works with the cc on/off rather than with active/inactive. Thinking about this further it could even be a wiring issue.....might look into that idea further ! Good point about the 2.0l & 2.3l petrol engines...i have never noticed if they have this same issue or if the the V6's follow the pattern with the Tdi's. I think this is definitely worth pursuing further as i would like to see this resolved ( as i think it is definitely incorrect to be working on on/off ). Also it would be interesting to know if it is possible to get some kind of output from my Mk1 cc that could be linked to a lamp, possibly seperate standalone LED as I don't have one on my speedo ). Its a very useful feature to have.
  16. Don't know I have a Mk1 (1998) and there is physically no lamp on the speedo. However upon further checking of the info. I have on MK2's...possibly later Mk1's....this lamp should only illuminate when cruise control is active, ie when it is controlling the speed of the car. It would be interesting to know if this works correctly on MK2 Shazza's and Bamma's and whether this is another ford balls up when they have initially programmed the ECU's. I believe it is in the coding shown in vagcom under 01-Engine then 07-Coding.
  17. we got the light by having the instrument cluster replaced :32: :)  under waranty for a different problem - personally its overated - the indicator is on when the cc is switched on but doesnt care whether its activated or not ... I am sure that there is another setting that enables this... I had a comapny 07 plate golf which had the cruise light that came on and off with the cc switch. And another 57 plate golf identical except that the cruise light only came on when cc was active. There must be three settings for the lamp....disabled....on/off with switch....and on/off with cc active. Does anyone have one that works only when cruise is active andf if so what is the value is shown using vagcom ?
  18. From todays news volvo people carrier
  19. I thought all MK2's (with cruise control) have this ? Admittedly it tends not to be turned on in the ECU.
  20. Very nice polishing job there.
