What Does My Warning Light Mean ?
big_kev replied to jmlgalaxy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Check the obvious first. Is it actually overheating.....is the coolant bubbling in the expansion tank or is steam escaping anywhere. Is the coolant level correct ? -
What Does My Warning Light Mean ?
big_kev replied to jmlgalaxy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Its telling you that your engine is too hot. ( overheating) The needle underneath should be into the red as well. It would be unadvisable to drive the vehicle until this fault has been sorted. -
Cruel.......but accurate. Anyhow.....we're on the way back up.....toooooooooooooooon

Remote Key Not Working
big_kev replied to simondan1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
No you do not need any extra keys. The need for at least 2 keys is just to enable a new key to work with the immobiliser. Both your keys are ok. However it is likely that your remote may be faulty ( or has flat bettery ). You could try reprogramming it to the car as per the FAQ. If changing the battery be careful that the PAT's chip does not fall out as this will stop the key from starting the car. -
Changing The Passenger Window Switch
big_kev replied to simondan1's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
" you need to push the trim plate they are located in towards the front of the car and lift the rear of the plate out of the door, the switch plate is held in place by a couple of lugs, the front lugs are made so that the plate will slide forward allowing the rear lugs to disengage " Copied from the FAQ link below. This is for a MK1......don't know what you have....place model desription in your signature. -
The timing chain should last the lifetime of the car. Almost everything else requires regular attention........just joking..

I think you can do it via vagcom ( instrument cluster....coding ) as this option may be required in certain countries.

Sunroof Problem With A Nice Piccy
big_kev replied to icecoolpsycho's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
I doubt this is fixable. You will have to find a replacement sunroof.....which may be easier to replace anyway. -
These surveys can be very misleading. The smax got 4 stars on performance, vehicle interior & exterior. The galaxy got 2 stars. Surely they should be the same ? Also I noticed the dealer service showed 1 and 2 stars respectively, again this should be the same. p.s. obviously Ford have improved their dealer service ( or maybe there was no Zero star category available. p.p.s. Most of the vehicles are not what I would call MPV's. p.p.p.s. This survey couldn't even get the Zaffy's name right.

I don't think anyone on this thread has a "Ford Engine" -
From the FAQ 1 Ensure ignition is switched off. 2 Press and hold the trip meter reset button whilst turning on ignition.. 3 Hold trip reset until four dashes "----" appear in display and then release the trip button. 4 Turn off ignition. Service Interval reset tool below

Was the bush replaced at the same time ? If not the bolt will snap again.......and again. -
Shouldn't you be watching the footie

Doubt it, however it would have been safer using mineral oil at first. Engine flush is likely to damage your engine.

How To Check Is Abs Sensors Are Working
big_kev replied to ddhh33's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Firstly if this is the Brake warning light then it indicates a fault on your braking system. ie The car is unsafe to drive ! It could just be that the wear connection to the pads ( if fitted ) is not connected or the wrong pads have been used. It could indicate something more serious with the braking system. Secondly if this is the ABS warning then it is less serious but still requires investigating. Check the obvious for loose connections. The use of Vagcom ( or similar ) can greatly assist in identifying faults. Basically it will tell you where the problem is to save you hunting for it. I really think you need to have very strong words with your mechanic, he should not have returned the car to you in this condition, the car is potentially unsafe to drive,, and your insurance would be null and void. ( if anyone found out ). -
Hold on just a moment ! You said if I filled that form in I would get a free ball. Still no sign of it yet. Therefore you are in breach of contract "verbal agreement" and I am going to sue you for this. Right now I am speaking to my solicitor about this and he has advised that I take this up through the small claims courts. However if you were to pop a rugby ball in the post to me I may be inclined to forget the matter. Or if you wished to settle out of court by means of some renumeration (
