  1. Hi Alan The cassette may be stuck with spilt drink thats dried, the opening that the cassette fits is slightly wider and you may be missing the tang with your feeler, try going in 5mm from the left towards the middle, you should feel a slight resistance then the feeler should go in a few mm's. If you haven't already done so you may find it easier if you take the radio out, you can then push the cassette from behind with your other hand. :)
  2. Hi there sounds good to me when you consider
  3. Hi again That price for the belt kit was from my local parts/accessory shop not necessarily the cheapest but convenient for me and that was 18 months ago so may be more now. If the Alternator bearings are the problem it's cheaper to take it off yourself and take it to a starter/alternator repair shop if you have one near you. Auxiliary belt and the auto tensioner is also available from factors, iirc about
  4. Hi there As Phil said slip off the auxilary drive belt, run engine see if noise is still there, suspect alternator bearing/s, auto belt tensioner. Thats pretty low mileage for the year, although after five years I would consider changing at least the belt. I change mine at 40.000 ml intervals, last change was belt and rollers
  5. Hi there The cup holders are not held in with screws, but a single locking tang all you need is a set of the feeler guages, pick one of the thicker ones, and slide it in on the top edge left side see pic.
  6. Hi there The clutch is fed from a pipe on the side of the brake fluid reservoir, the reservoir is seperated internally, so if there is a leak on the clutch it will not affect the brakes. Also check inside the car around the area of the clutch pedal incase fluid been leaking from clutch master cylinder, this will usually find its way on to the carpet.
  7. Hi there Could be clutch slave cylinder leaking, check fluid level, if it's low have a look at bottom of gearbox bellhousing see if it's wet with fluid.
  8. Hi there Easy answer Chain only the diesel's are belts.
  9. Hi there Look in the FAQ section no.31 & 43 there are instructions and pics there, this is a common fault with the drivers door and tailgate, to much opening and shutting LOL :o
  10. Hi and welome Why not have the real thing. :o http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-GALAXY-OWNERS-H...=item335dcac469
  11. Mirez (Mark) had a big list of parts he was selling I'm sure he had an intercooler for sale, PM him he may still have it
  12. Hi there Firstly do you suffer any loss of power when you have problem, ie acceleration is it smooth with no misfiring, rough idle/stalling usually dirty/sticking idle control valve and/or perished or split vacuum pipes should also be checked. There is a fuel filter mounted under the car near the fuel tank, and is a service item. Not heard of the fuel gauge and stalling being associated may be coincidence unless someone else knows different, I do know fuel gauge has had its own problems. If you have no power loss I would go straight to the idle valve which is mounted on top of the inlet manifold remove it and clean best you can with some carb cleaner and check all vacuum hoses at same time, see if you get any improvement.
  13. Hi again Could be drawing in air, check pipe connections on filter and inlet connection on injection pump, you could try temporarily bypassing the fuel filter, also can you feel the injection pump sucking if you disconnect inlet pipe and put a finger on the pump connection while someone cranks engine?
  14. Hi there There is a pressure switch located in the area behind O/S/F foglamp, one of it's functions is to disable clutch if there's no pressure in the system therefore protecting the compressor.
  15. Hi again Leads with this description, USB-OBD-II, KKL, Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda. Price varies,
  16. Easier still Greg just swop cars :o
  17. Hi and welcome Vag-Com will work fine on the V6 and TDI's, it's the Ford engines that will not. Mk1 socket is under the ashtray
  18. Hi there Mk2 TDI are unit injectors therefore engine start/stop controlled by PCM. Assuming you have changed fuel filter, also have you tried disconecting the inlet pipe to the fuel filter and turn the ignition on and off a few times, a small quantity of fuel should be pumped out every time.
  19. Hi there Welome to the site The key you are trying is it all black and plastic, if so that is the emergency key which is only for occasional use, I must admit I have one and have just gone to the car to try it, and to my surprise it does start the engine so it must have a chip in the handle end. Is the battery charged? do ignition lights come on when key is turned on? does starter turn engine over? is there an led light on the drivers door panel?
  20. Hi there Firstly why so many posts of the same topic? the solenoid valves are you meaning the ones in an auto gearbox? as it sounds like you have a fuel/air charge problem. Also can you put your vehicle details into your signiture that will save you typing them in everytime you post. I'm sure one of the moderators will remove the duplicate posts for you. :)
  21. Hi Alan Have you re checked tyre pressures since you had them fitted? even a small underinflation especially N/S/Front wheel will steer/pull towards kerb.
  22. The TDI usually has 4 terminals on the switch and has 2 sets of contacts, one or both sets of contacts could be faulty!
  23. Hi there If the wire is broken in the pad you will need to remove caliper to change pads. Vag-Com can't tell you which wheel as wear leads are not on all wheels.
  24. Hi there it's a common fault usually brake light switch. Do search on flashing glow plug light.
  25. Hi there If I made it sound simple I apologize, believe me there are a lot worse than that. The pic shows the three bolts you need to remove the scuttle plate, the rubber strip just pulls off, don't loose the two small pieces of foam at each end. Just drain off enough fluid to empty the container don't drain the cylinder you don't need excess air to enter system. Stuff some old rags around base of fluid reservoir then pull reservoir off master cylinder letting the remainder fluid soak into rags. dispose of fluid soaked rags carefully you wont want fluid on your paintwork. Now you can undo the pipes and mounting. You will need to bleed brakes fully on reassembly. :)
