Pipe Coming Off
chrispb123456 replied to lobbslobb's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi there cant think of any hoses that would be pressure hoses that just push together, they are usually vacuum, you spoke in a previous post about the MAF sensor this is in the large pipe from the air filter housing to the intake manifold it doesn't have any small pipes attached to it. You need to find where both ends of this pipe go to as I cant tell from photo where its going. The stalling/rough idle may be due to dirty/sticking idle control valve. -
Priming Diesel Pump
chrispb123456 replied to csj's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
hi again the hand primer that should be easily available from a scrappy would be from a p reg peugeot 306 1.9 diesel or citroen zx 1.9 diesel or any old mechanical lift pump. You may have to get some tubing to adapt the hand primer to fit your car, but once you have got it you will find it very usefull when you change fuel filter, saves all the endless cranking of the starter, have ignition on when priming this will ensure stop solenoid is in run position. -
Priming Diesel Pump
chrispb123456 replied to csj's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi in theory it should do but in practice rarely, with the aid of hand primer pump or an old lift pump which you can temporarily place in the feed pipe from the tank to the fuel filter. That will allow you to pump diesel from the tank through the filter and the injection pump. -
European Headlamps Compatability
chrispb123456 replied to nick wood's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi welcome to the site You need to check whether you got halogen or xenon lights because there not interchangeable, halogen being more common. More chance getting euro lights abroad, would be like gold dust here, sharan & alhambra same. You will need torx type socket with long extension, 4 bolts per lamp, easy to change <_< -

Hi Have you tested the bulbs or just looked at them, the filaments don't always break for the bulb not to work. PS can you put your vehicle details in your signature <_<

Hi again Jay If this bleed nipple's not tightening up on this caliper and the thread is damaged in the caliper then a new bleed nipple wont help, and winding PTFE tape round the nipple is not even a temporary option, drilling out the old thread and tapping to a larger size nipple would bring it's own complications, 1.find a larger size diameter nipple, 2, getting the taps to cut the thread, and probably work out dearer than a new caliper. My advice get a good s/hand or better still new caliper. <_< Just imagine what could happen you hit the brakes hard in an emergency, pop out comes the old nipple pedal drops!! don't need to say anymore. :(

Help My Wind Back Tool Stuck
chrispb123456 replied to geduk's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Jay If you are using the Laser tool you should only be turning the black winding handle clockwise to wind piston back in, if it's gone tight and you want to remove tool you need a 24mm spanner and wind the shiny knurled collar clockwise to release tool. You will find it easier to use the tool if you oil the thread before use. The caliper anchor bracket sliding pins can usually be cleaned up and greased once you get them out the bracket :D -
Hi Again Reading your first post where you have changed over the engine. The multi plug for engine electrics are those connections OK, can you get 12v there for the starter solenoid, also check in the auxiliary fuse box fuses for burnt/bad connections, iirc only MK2 diesels have electric fuel pump. Also assuming its not automatic so you wont have starter inhibitor switch.

Hi there Is the engine turning over but not firing, if so check stop solenoid on pump it should click when turning on ignition.

Ye Ol' Egr Valve
chrispb123456 replied to RCMillsy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi again Just as an addition to what your doing, have normal servicing items like new spark plugs and air filter been changed recently, if it's done high mileage may benefit new set of plug leads. -
Hi there Just like to add when any part of the system has been open to atmosphere prior to re-gassing the system should be vacuumed this will remove any moisture that will now be present it will also remove any dirt/old oil in the system, also advisable to change drier cartridge as well, the air-con specialist will know how much oil and gas to replace, they will test for leaks and inject a fluorescent dye which will show up any future leak Local mobile specialist in Maidstone charges

Hi All update. Removed both headlights rejoined the three wires (soldered) in each lamp, removed motors on looking inside they look like brand new, anyway cleaned the little variable resistor with switch cleaner and a bit of grease on the motor gear. Refitted motors and test, 1 working as normal the other doing the whirring up and down constantly until I give it a thump. Refit lamps into car, test again 1 working the other intermittant bugger, order new motor from Frauds and fitted yesterday, both working  now for how long?? Part no. F1041664 -
Ye Ol' Egr Valve
chrispb123456 replied to RCMillsy's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Hi Again What your describing does sound like EGR valve, have found another pic looking down, the right circle shows EGR, the left shows where the idle control valve is fitted (valve removed)
