  1. Hi there as far as I'm aware you have to buy the whole thing complete as it's not sold separately.
  2. Hi again Lenth of travel is governed by linkage, worn ball joints links and spindle wear may have an affect, also are the wiper arms installed in the correct position they are a spline fitting, you may need to undo the wiper arm nut loosen arm from the splined spindle and move up one spline, you will need to do that to both arms or they may clash with each other
  3. Was gonna suggest venetian blinds but they may obstruct the seat belts :)
  4. Hi there Could be faulty or incorrectly adjusted switches on brake and clutch pedal assuming manual gearbox. Vehicle details please.
  5. Hi there Can't see that with the oil,if you have taken the head off a running engine and have not disturbed the camshaft there should be no problem, sounds more like timing problem if there's little compression
  6. Hi there Pretty straight forward, I always get the cambelt kit, you then get the idler aswell as the tensioner. Just make sure you mark the pulleys with tipex and a non moving point before removing old belt, I didn't use any special locking tools only the drill bits for camshaft and checking belt tension. :)
  7. Hi and welcome to the site Its been known for the Mk1 to struggle to pull diesel from the tank after being dissmantled Disconnect inlet pipe to fuel filter then temporarily fit an old mechanical lift pump in the line, then you can pump by hand clean fuel through the filter and injection pump, then just crack open injector pipes breifly while turning on starter.
  8. Hi there and welcome Servo diapragm leak you will need to replace servo they are not repairable. Is the air-con actually working (getting cold) when a/c light is on? having regas may not be linked to having no warning light in no.3 position but having the system checked for leaks and if OK regassed is a must anyway, further checks on the electrical system may be neccessary with the help of code reader or Vag-Com to pin point any faults.
  9. Hi there and welcome to the new upgraded forum Would normally be necessary to drain fluid when changing gearbox unless it will come out without removing intermediate shaft in which case it proberbly wasn't drained. I take it then you had a secondhand gearbox fitted, I would be very wary of that unless you new the history of it , you may end up with a worse one than what you had, it sounds like the clutches are slipping in the box, but I would first check the condition of the fluid first by draining a sample if it's brown or black colour then it's old fluid, assuming it's a mk 2 AG5 box it should be cherry red. You then need to check the level which is not straight forward but information is available in the FAQ section of the site. Can you put your car details in your post ie year, engine type/code :)
  10. Mirez, has the chrome hangers for sale
  11. Don't like it, just getting the hang of the old one :) now where' the spell checker gone im gonna be well knackered now LOL
  12. Hi there You really need to dismantle the linkage to clean off any corrosion and to grease the splindles and ball joints, have heard of members doing it on the car but I have found it much easier to remove the complete wiper motor and linkage, also a good opportunity to clean out the scuttle drains (area where all the dirt and leaves congregate), also changing the pollen filter which is a bugger to do with wipers in situ. Whatever way you decide to do it don't misplace the wavy washer o ring and circlip. :)
  13. Mikef If you get a VAG-COM lead from Ebay about
  14. Hi there Sounds very much like master cylinder
  15. Hi there Have a look on Ebay there's allways s/hand fobs and keys for sale, then just swop over the fob, if you have another working key you should be able to re -program it yourself following the guide in your handbook or look in the FAQ section on here.
  16. Hi Davetee Have found this relay 98 in slot 19 in the sharan wiring diagram. The actual text says "Release relay for terminal 61, Additional water heater coolant circuit valve relay, looks like this year model had a shut off valve in the water circuit. Hopefully Mark will confirm and may have additional info. Hope thats of some help anyway.
  17. Hi there Don't know on Mk 3 but may be similar to Mk 2 which a has a large grommet in bulkhead behind ABS valve block, comes inside by heater blower motor
  18. Hi there. Are you sure it is the servo as there's a lot of vacuum pipes under there that could be leaking' Looks a bit of job as you need to remove EGR valve. I think you need to allow yourself a day as you will be working inside as well as under the bonnet, also if it's manual you need to remove clutch hydraulic pipe from master cylinder.
  19. Hi there Have you changed spark plugs recently and possibly plug leads, air filter, do these before considering coil packs also check for perished/split air hoses.
  20. Hi there Above heater blower motor on passenger side
  21. Hi there Sounds like it's going into limp mode which is being reset every time you stop and restart. Is the car serviced regularly ie oil air fuel filters? If they are OK you really need to have codes read, may make diagnosis easier as there is quite a few things that will cause loss of power, ie vacuum control piping split/perished faulty MAF sensor faulty/loose injector wiring, clogged turbo/EGR valve. Have you had the glow plug light flashing or staying on recently.
  22. Hi there First thing to do would be take cylinder head of inspect the damage, may just be a bent valve but you may have camshaft and/or piston/bore damage :( Couldn't just throw it away without having a look first
  23. Hi there When you say wires hanging down sounds very much like somethings been bypassed/rewired, have you had a problem with blower before, or have you just aquired car? can you see where these wires are running from and going too. The wiring on the heater motor is quite substantial, as the motor draws a large current when on full power, maybe the size of the wire is to small for the job.
  24. Hi there Just a thought, you said previously that 19 wasn't used on your model, maybe some aftermarket accessory has been added using that relay. Is there anything obvious thats not working now!!
