Right... We pulled the gear shaft gaitor off and tested the connections on the plug - no power. We pulled the #7 use, white 25amp, and stuck the prongs in there to see if we could get power... no power at the fuse box! What to do now, other than rig up a cable from the battery?

So I sprayed my drop link nuts I still have to replace with a load of WD40, I gave it a few coats and left it over night... I get my 18mm socket on the top nut with breaker bar thinking it was going to be another battle like it was the day before... I gave it a good heave and ... **CRACK** It came loose, but it just kept spinning and spinning... Great! Angle grinder? hacksaw? plasma cutter? So now what do you all suggest I do, bar take it to a garage? What tools would be able to hold the top inner threaded shaft still?

Cruise Control Not Working

ruddy bell, found the old switch... it was missing the plunger bit! For those looking for the switch it is just above the courtesy light hidden away in the dark recesses. Before removing the old one, have a GOOD look, and then another GOOD look at where it fits in and how you take it out to make fitting the new one a lot easier. I didn't notice which way it was so struggled a bit. But if you struggle with a few torches and get it in the right mounting hole (ohhhhh errrrr missus), you'll notice the knob (your dirty little boy/girl) on the back of the clutch pedal where the switch will align with, that's the right hole to aim for. Thanks gregers ;) -
I pulled the plugs off the back of the aux sockets and tested them with multimeter, there was no power between them, however we had -ve when touching the chassis with the -ve from the sockets (via the multimeter) but no +ve. I've had a look for these fuses under the drivers seat a few times and can't see them, so think I don't have them (also my fusebox is the MK2's where one of the fuses in the row with a load of fuses is the fuse for these). I'll crack out the multimeter again and check the ciggie lighter's power, maybe it's a broken or the socket itself is knackered. If all else fails and I don't get these working I'll use the laptop to power the satnav on our last leg of the journey. It's times like these you think you bought a Ghia to have all the toys, but only realise that you've got a few of them and wonder why you paid extra for the Ghia ;)

Hi All, The time has come to run some wire from the battery to the ciggie lighter, and what I want to know is, what gauge do I need? and which the best route to run it would be? how many feet would I need? Obv, I'll be adding an inline fuse. Unless someone can help diagnose why both the aux power supply's in the boot and the ciggie lighter do not work? I've checked and replaced the fuses etc I'd like to get it done tomorrow as the trip to the Valley's has crept up on me like a tiger in the jungle! ;)

It's been awhile, but I have had the switch for a few weeks or so and decided to try fit it.... I can't see where it should go. this is the switch I bought http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj183/jayton82/galaxy/Photo-0004.jpg and it looks like it can't fit anywhere: http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj183/jayton82/galaxy/Photo-0001.jpg Have I bought the wrong one or is it further up behind the dash? -
Engine Not Turning Over
Jayton replied to Galaxy101's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
You checked the belts? Water around the ECU/fusebox(s)? -
If it were a Golf (same engine), I'd say sure do it! But hey it's a big slow bus, no point
-
Take it out (mind the electrical plug on the back!) and clean it in warm soapy water and dry thoroughly before installing again, mine (driver side) was really slow to pop out and got much better after this but still isn't as fast as the passenger side one.

Not Starting On All Cylinders
Jayton replied to Jayton's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Cheers mate, The car has done 144k miles :( I guess it's time for a nozzle test, how much are they roughly? I'll be having a full service at the end of the month, I'll also have them change the glow plugs (I can't be arsed to do anything on the car anymore as it seems I break it when I do anything to it!). I cleared the codes and took it for a drive, tripped out the turbo (sticky vanes...) and got back with the following code, as a result of accelerating too much with the engine still quite cool (3rd gear @ 3k rpm it tripped out) Control Module Part Number: 038 906 019 BF Component and/or Version: 1,9l R4 EDC G000SG 1088 Software Coding: 00002 Work Shop Code: WSC 00020 1 Fault Found: 17965 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation P1557 - 35-00 - - I'll rescan it the next time it doesn't start up properly and see if there are any codes. -
Completely naffed Throttle position sensor perhaps? When these are shot you loose all rev'ing and the car will idle at 1200rpm, check the peddle switches.

but the search isn't very good on this particular forum software. Anyway, lately the car has started but it feels like on 2 or 3 cylinders and then kicks in fully. I'll do a VAGCOM in the morning (knackered after the brake change & BBQ) and see what that yields. I hope it's not the injector loom :(

Well it is a VW afterall, it's not as if it's a Ford :o

Power Loss 2001 Tdi
Jayton replied to srcreporter's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Sounds like the classic sticky vanes problem, as you say switching off then on again 'fixes' it. There are plenty topics on the sticky vanes problem, your turbo probably just needs a clean which can be done for about -
Any reason you want 1 of these instead of vagcom? Just interested in the reason that's all :)

A quick Google (and click on first link) says the one I found uses an ODB2 connector: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scanner-Reader-SKO...t/dp/B001KSZQNM Never used that item, just the first one in the search results on Google when searching for U280 so if it doesn't work don't blame me <_<

Darn, Thanks anyway. <_<

Are the MK1 and MK2 rear calipers the same? I've found a cheap set of MK1 calipers and they look pretty much the same as mine in the pics but I just need to be 100% sure <_< -
ooooo how much for the rear brakes calipers & carriers from the MK2 you are breaking? I only really need the n/s/r but if you can do a good price I'll take both <_<
