  1. Got the call from the garage... SHE LIVES! But my wallet doesn't
  2. Well not really. How bad is it on the PD's? :lipsrsealed:
  3. can you beleive I still need to do this? :D I should have time this weekend. I seriously hate parking on an incline and relying on doing things round the outlaws :D
  4. Put the new bush in the freezer over night and only take it out when you are ready to put it in, it should go in easier
  5. You are comparing the MK1 suspension to the MK2 suspension. Yes it changed with the MK2 and got better, feels more like a normal car than the MK1 I drove. The MK1 I drove was very comfy and could not feel the bumps in the road but my goodness, going around corners at speeds I was used to was hair raising!!!
  6. You'd have to take the rear seats out to make a 'bed' in the back.
  7. How much surging? I noticed with the AC on mine goes up and down slightly, maybe +-50rpm either way. Turn AC off and it doesn't do it.
  8. I'd buy from these guys: http://www.vwsonline.co.uk/car_parts_bristol/ I've done business with them for most of my Galaxy's parts and they've even given me sound advice, just remember to look under Sharan for the parts :( They're generally cheaper than GSF & ECP too :(
  9. Thought as much, someone else told me otherwise and I started thinking the previous owner bodged it to stop the EML coming on. Cheers for clearing that up Mirez :)
  10. Should my engine management light come on when I turn the key to the glow plug warming position (position 2?) and without starting the car? All the other lights come on and go out except for this one, it doesn't come on at all. Do I even have one? :)
  11. Might as well give it a try :) Saves taking the EGR off and cleaning it and also
  12. Ah, that's a good length of time to be sure :) I might have to get some of that EGR cleaner as I'm servicing the old gal this week. Out of interest, you say hold the revs, but at how many? 2k, 3k, 4k ? :) and use the whole can?
  13. I've got Vredestein Sportrac 3's on mine, £65~ each delivered from Camskill for 215/55/16/XL's, paid local fitter £10 to fit, balance and valve each of them up :) Probably not as good as the Conti's, but at 1/2 the price you'll be pleasantly surprised! (Do I sound like a sales man? :) ) oh and for the air con regas I paid £50+vat on Friday at a garage nearish to my work.
  14. It's ruddy annoying to get off and on again, I've left mine off now as I went through a period of having to check fuses :)
  15. 0.4L will be fine to top up with, you can use up to a litre of the same weight non-spec diesel oil. I'll have to ask opi why the difference on their site...
  16. I've not had it once yet since it's been so hot, maybe it's a good time to do the Italian tune-up eh? :)
  17. How long ago did you do it and how long has it been since you had the dreaded limp mode?
  18. Good news: Multimeter at work has batteries. Bad news: I worked late and didn't get a chance to check the others fuses. I didn't test the ciggie lighter fuse socket properly, I put the probes across the fuse folder but ofc with nothing attached to the ciggie lighter to engage it... DOH! I had a quick look at the fuse box next to the battery while filling the screen wash up at the garage, the 3 fuses looked OK but I'll replace anyway. I also noticed 2 very thin wires coming off the battery and going behind it and disappearing in what looks like OEM loom wrap stuff... both these wires have fuses, anyone know what they're for?
  19. http://www.aa1car.com/library/vibrations.htm http://www.2carpros.com/first_things/car_shakes_acceleration.htm hth
  20. It's pretty easy to change if you take the alternator out, use plenty of good penetrating oil down the splined shaft, leave over night then give it a go.
  21. Read up on changing the alternator pulley <_< There is loads about it on here
  22. I asked the same question a few weeks back and was told rear MK2 and rear MK1 calipers are the same - bar the 2.8 VR6 calipers. So a caliper from a 2.0, 1.9tdi, 2.3 and 1.8 20VT (not missing any engines am I?) should work from what I understand <_<
  23. Thanks Chris, I'll check that tomorrow if my multimeter at work has battery life still <_< If it is that (Which at this point I'm inclined to think as the read sockets do not work either and they are powered by different fuses to the ciggie socket) what would be the 'cure'? A loose connection in the fusebox next to the battery be the most likely cause?
  24. I had a quick peak when I got home and didn't see a hex recess on the current one like the new one has, so the must gave a flat. I'll have a look tomorrow in the light.
  25. Hi Phil, I had a look on the replacement item and couldn't see this flat bit you mentioned. I'm not with the car at the mo so can't look, would I need to remove the rubber coverings? So you know off hand what size spanner I would need? Cheers, Jay
