  1. My local garage bought the plug from the SEAT dealer and charged me
  2. Hi All, Try this. Go to search, Alahambra, [year], then Auxiliary Heater Aux Heater Repair? The last choice was Auxiliary Heater, but note that the description in the link says 'Additional Heater'!!! I know that there has been discussion on exactly what the terms Auxiliary, Booster, Secondary, Additional etc, etc Heater refer to. What do you reckon? Is this link refering to the diesel powered 'auxilary' heater that is under the car by the back near side wheel? I don't want to buy something that turns out to be for the second heater that is inside the car. Cheers. Oggy.
  3. Same for me, takes a few miles more than I would like, but with the ambient temp at about 40 C (as it is tonight) it took about 6 or 7 miles maybe more, to get there, then it hovered as you say at about 90 C, sometimes dropping a bit. Before you did the thermostat did it ever get anywhere near there. BTW my Aux Heater isn't working either at the moment  Cheers. Oggy.
  4. Er, no!! Should I have?? I'm having a good look through Ross Tech right now! Just read the PC magazine article and now looking at www.software forcars.com Blimey in about two or three years time I may be able to tell you guys something :D :D If I come across any fault code list I will post back, or is this something that everyone already has?? :( :D Cheers. Oggy.
  5. B****y H*ll That's why i don't want to blow too much on this till I get my head round it!! Cheers. Oggy.
  6. Thanks MM, A couple of questions if I may. Will that limited functionality allow me to clear any error codes that might be stopping the Aux Heater from firing? Also switch the Aux Heater off and on like posts here have said you can? The mist is starting to clear!! :( Cheers. Oggy.
  7. Mike, I realise that I am being thick here, it will click in a bit but it hasn't yet!! A good start would be what is meant by 'interface'. I have been taking it to be the a socket on the car that I plug the cable into, but is it really the cable? Bear in mind I have not got anything yet except and old W2K laptop with USB ports. I don
  8. Just removed the trim and no label!! Just a thinish black wire (est 5mm dia) leading to the back of the diag' socket. Oggy.
  9. Hi All, As instructed on the Ross Tech site I am trying to locate the interface label to identify the correct download for my 2002 Alhambra. I have found the interface by the bonnet release but I am guessing that the interface label is going to be behind trim. I really hate removing trim so can anyone tell me if that is really what I have to do, or already know knows which interface it is. The Ross Tech site is listing newer releases of VAG that I would like to use if I could. Regards. Oggy.
  10. DelBoyt Have alook at the 'Blaupunkt San Diego' thread (NOT the 'Can Two Blaupunkts Skip?' thread). For me its is on page two. I posted some schematics and gave the colours too. I know its an Alhambra but it might help. I am sure sombody else will say if not. Cheers. Oggy.
  11. Hi All, Having had the glow plug diagnosed as open circuit by the SEAT dealer back in March, I finally got it changed at the 50K service when my local (non SEAT) garage did the service, CAM Belt, Air Con - don't ask about the bill!!! They changed the glow plug but did not have VAG.com so used their own diagnostic kit to look for the error codes but did not find any!! Anyway the Aux Heater worked so who they let me have it back. Anyway to cut a long story short the Aux Heater worked for a few days with ambient temp around 50 C but now it has got colder than that it has clearly stopped working. The garage is saying
  12. Hi All, I want to get the TIS for my 2002 Alhambra TDi and its at times like these that I wish I had the Galaxy!! In dummy speak (for my benefit) can anyone tell me what I have to buy please. I have looked on EBay and don
  13. Hi All, I was told that car should have reinforced tyres but could have the next rated tyre up instead. Wos this about then? Anyone know what the insurance angle is? Oggy.
  14. Matt, Where did you get the clips from? Cheers. Oggy.
  15. Well if nothing else its good to see that someone is accepting that TDi's save munny  All the best. Oggy.
  16. My trip to work is 4 miles and I rarely do more!! I normally reset memory bank 2 on each fill of the tank and it registers near to 40 mpg ech time. On a run keep it to 65/70 and you will get 45mpg, push it to 80/85 and it drops alarmingly. Regards. Oggy.
  17. I started to compose a reply containing something about my 'investigations' and 'walk of life' but gave up!!! Like I have with the radio. A mate has lent me an old Panasonic that does all I want and has the VAG leads too. Just as well cos the Pana is not standard ISO like the Scala and Blaupunkt! Anyway so far so good but I've been there before!! See how it goes. Incidentally the Blaupunkt jumped while staionary at traffic lights today. Cheers. Oggy.
  18. Hi MM, Here goes. Mostly the jump is quite small, say a second or two or less. The first time it happened I had to ask others in the car to be sure I had heard right. Very occasionally it is more like several seconds i.e. there is a complete change in the phase of the music that is playing. Without looking at the display at the time that it happens I can't be sure, but I would say that the jump is then more like several seconds. It never jumps a whole track, or to the beginng or end, at least not yet  It is random and unrepeatable. i.e. rewind slightly and jump does not happen. Went berserk on 'Telegraph Road' on Sunday, but was fine on that track now. Doesn't seem to be in a particular track position on CD. This is always on manufactured CD's not copies or MP3. Haven't tried them yet! I cannot spot a trend. i.e. its not early on in a journey - I wish it was then I could get people in the bl@*dy car and prove it  If anything it tends to be after 10 or 15 minutes travel but have sometimes gone twice that time without problem. I would say that it would happen at least once within 20 minutes or so,but not always. On a couple of occasions I have heard a sort of buzz rather than a jump. I reckon that it is related to car electrical system, but maybe this particular device is too sensitive? Never noticed any strange buzz's on the old Scala unit. Never had a problem with the same CD's in other devices. I'm sure it is not faulty or scatched CD's!! It doesn't happen on rough ground, though I suppose it could. Have changed Pins 4 and 7, but not does the aerial booster adapter yet. If I think of anything else tht might help I will post. I haven't got a clue ;) Thanks for any input. Cheers. Oggy.
  19. Can't remember for sure but guessing, I'm pretty sure there are two thick wires and they are the earth (pin 8) and the perm live (pin 4) pretty sure pin 5 is not thick. Also the OE Scala radio has a schematic on it and that shows pin 5 as '+'. I posted that schematic on the other 'jimping' thread. This 'jumping' (or whatever it is) is entirely random, sometimes it doesn't do it for 20/30 minutes then several times in 5. Have to say though, that I reckon it is car specific rather than a radio fault so bit worried about buying anything else!! Regards. Oggy.
  20. Bloke runs out of petrol, gets his empty petrol can out the boot and walks to the nearest garage. Walk's in and says to the assistant 'Cana BP'. Assistant looks at him and say 'Dunno, but a fish can fart I've seen the bubbles'!
  21. Ok, thanks - nuff said. I read this earlier and have just got back from Halfords with a couple of bullet connectors and made the change myself. So far so good in that 1) it works, 2) it works without the ignition key in, 3) it remembers where it was on the CD. So lets see what happens about the jumping!!! Will post back. Cheers. Oggy.
  22. MM, the aerial was a straight swap with the scala unit. I just used the existing bracket which is a right angle. Is that what you were asking? They have tested the one that I returned on the bench and it doesn't jump. I don't have the facility to bench test myself. Cheers. Oggy.
  23. Thanks MM, To complete the picture I thought I would post the schematic on the top of the Scala radio while it is out of the car. FYI: This is what I believe to be the standard equipment on my car which is a 2002 Alhambra SE. For pin numbers I think you need to count from the bottom right hand pin. I.e. the one above pin 1 is pin 2, the one to the left of pin 1 is pin 3 etc. This confirm the dimmer (which I assume is the sunny thing!) is on Pin 6. Hope someone finds this useful. Regards. Oggy.
