Thanks Martin, I really don't whether mine is right or wrong except that I am pretty sure that the Aux heater is not working!! But even it that is fixed, given that it only should work at 5 C or thereabouts this will be the worst car I have ever had for heater performance on short runs!! Which unfortunately is 90% of my driving ;) Regards. Oggy -
Aircon Under 5 Degress C
Ogben Schmutzel replied to timwood2000's topic in What thing irritate you about your Galaxy
I recall something in my old V40 (with climate control) handbook about the aircon disconnecting (not word they used) when the ambient temperature is below a certain value and it may well have been 5 C. The light didn -

How Do I Remove This?

Jeff115, Many thanks. Hopefully I will be able to see what is lifting the bit of trim that, in ignorance, I was trying to remove!! Regards. Oggy. -

Further to the directions by GSMGuy in this post (Page 3) http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...wtopic=3623&hl= on how to test the aux heater sensor, I have discovered that I do not have the required nimble fingers to get at the sensor, or in fact the confidence to know that what I can see under there is in fact the sensor. To get at it better after removing the wiper arm I tried to remove the bit of trim indicated in the attached but could not get the studs unclipped with the force that I was prepared to exert. I have horror thoughts of breaking the trim and finding the sensor is fine!!! You can see that through my effort the trim is still lifted slightly and won

Just out I'm afraid. Picked up the car from an auction a week ago. Do you reckon that I'm in with a chance of the SEAT dealer fixing it free then? -

Ogben Schmutzel replied to Ogben Schmutzel's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Yeh - I don't understand that either Jeff115. Thanks for all the answers. I have concluded that the Aux Heater is not functioning. There is no smell, no noise, just nothing!!! Could that still be the glow plug or is it worse?? :o Also ... in my manual it says that with a diesel engine the aux heater will function when the engine is running AND the ambient temperature is less than 5 C OR the coolant temperature is below 75 C. The key here is the AND/OR statements meaning that for the aux heater to be running I reckon the following must be satisfied. 1) The Engine must be running :( AND one of the following must be satisfied 2) The ambient temperature is be less than 5 C OR 3) The coolant temperature is below 75 C. Thus it should run on start-up -

Ivor, but according to Jeff115 it would not have been working as the ambient was 9 C but it only cuts in at 5 C  -

Also .... (I must stop doing this) .... if it does turn out to be the aux heater how do I test it if the weather is mild and the temp stays over the cut in threshold  -

Ogben Schmutzel replied to Ogben Schmutzel's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Jeff115 - I know that its not posible to be exact but in your opinion should I be seeing some sort of movement of the temp gauge after 3 to 4 miles and ten minutes stop start motoring when the ambient temp is 9 C?
