  5. Not in the taxi drivers league but my MK1 has 130+K on the clock same clutch and exhasut etc - air con is fine had one Recevier dryer and a re gas , broken gear cables and standard servcing. I did the first 80K in two years. My MK2 has 100K on the clock original clutch - rear box replaced on the exhaust last week, Air Con condsenser done at one year old under warranty other than that it goes well - in use every day. SO all in all i think they will last.
  6. I use alloy wheel cleaner - I can't remember the brand but I got a gallon of it and it works brilliantly. What it doesn't do though is clean off the crap that's under the lacquer - really poor quality.
  7. ;) B) TWAT!!!!!! :16:
  8. Oooh you're such a sneaky so & so!! B)
  9. Horses for courses - As long as the person asking the question is genuinely in need of an answer - does it really matter about "netiquette"? If they are not intent on spoiling or damaging or otherwise buggering up the site - whats the big deal?. I agree that everyone should abide by the largely unwritten rules but if they don't know what they are it is too easy to fall foul of them. Perhaps a thread on netiquette can be inserted by the MODS - something along the lines of "before posting please read and understand the rules of the site" .
  10. how did your programming procedure differ from the one here linked in the faq ps I've used this one and would be interested in any others that work My procedure is exactly the same - turn the key to the left three times holding gfor .5 seconds and then point at mirror etc etc. But it didn't work until I tried turning the key to the right!. No idea why.
  11. All working now! :D I tried re programming but to no avail - then decided to reverse the directions in the book and hey presto it worked!! :) Bloody book says turn to the left - but when I did I could reach the lock! All working now! :D I tried re programming but to no avail - then decided to reverse the directions in the book and hey presto it worked!! -_- Bloody book says turn to the left - but when I did I couldn't reach the lock! :(
  12. I tried re programming it today - nothing doing. I took the key to bits - the switches appear to operate OK. Is there anyting in the car like a fuse etc that I can check?
  13. No I haven't tried to re program it - it didn't just die it took a few days progressivley getting harder and harder to open the locks which is why I thought it was batteries. I have all the keys but only this one is a radio key.
  14. Hmmm.... note to self: See If I can unplug her broadband again! She's having fun and that's not allowed!! :D
  15. Pardon - I didn't quite get that my hearing aide was turned off - can you repeat? :D
  16. I thought it was only the MK1 that used an infra red type key? I'm actually not sure what type it is - you point & shoot and it has a little red light! - That's all I know :D
  17. I need some help My remote key for MKII has stopped working. I assumed this would be batteries and have changed them but to no avail. The little red light flashes but it has no effect on the doors at all. The doors all work fine with using the key in the lock. Any ideas?
  18. Do a search theres a wealth of stuff on the MAF. One way to test is to disconnect it - you should find the motor is gutless and crawls up hills - if it makes no difference then it's either gone or it's OK!!. The first thing to do would be to understand why you need to know. Do you have a problem?
  19. "As Bleeno comes up the outside he's hedging his bets" Or "typical Bleeno - He's just clipped the Mclaren" or "He's taking this Green fuel thing a bit far!!"
  20. Probably Not. You need to find the fault. Check the clock spring - Do a search.
  21. ;)
