Totally of topic......just noticed the member that started the topic has the screen name genepaul....so my powers of deduction tell me that Genepaul is a fan of the rock band KISS (Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley) or maybe I'm just mad !!! Incidently on Channel 4 Friday evenings at 9.30...the one and only Gene Simmons (actually there are two Jean Simmons famous Hollywood actress !?!) hosts a "reality" documentary called Rock School......even if you aren't a fan you gotta watch this...hilarious !!!!!

I so so so wanted to win that competition......my rattle is well and truley thrown ...NOT :D . ..but seriously......when I was booking my car in for a cambelt change at 40k at my local independent VW/Audi garage.....the manager there reffered to a book he had regarding the 40k cambelt change. In conclusion he said that year manufacture 2000 to 2002 definitely recommend 40k change. So I dont know if they have modified the tensioners and rollers after so many failures !!!!Dont rely on the muppets at Fraud to be able to give this information...try VW instead....the lesser of two evils !!!!!!

Is the T-map sensor also know as the "thrust" sensor ???

....the bonnet,wings, headlights on a MK1 are all the same on the Galaxy Alhambra and sharan as are the bumpers...a grille swap is possible but you wont be able to cover up the hole where the VW badge is removed with your oval Ford badge !!!!

Some time ago I had a problem with my trip computer.It used to freeze up ...but for some reason it now works. I bought a new stalk but obviously never got round to fitting it...anyway..it is now surplus to requirments.So if you are thinking of activating this feature(as GSM GUY has done and documented on how to do it !!) on your MK2 Shalaxy or just need a new stalk make me an offer.

Right then folks....put new Maf on today....car definitely goes better......however.....its got a slight miss at about 1500 rpm but pulls through it fine....more noticable in 1st and second !!!! Any ideas.......would I be able to run any tests with Vag com ???

Got a new MAF for mine...fitting it tomorrow....but I suspect this is not my problem. I think it may be a vacum hose somewhere or it may be linked to my ECT problem...as it seems to run worse when it gets hot....more so as its been in the middle to high 20 s here..Will report back after new MAF installed.....If MAF is not NAF...will sell it here for what I paid for it .

Do you know anyone with Vag com that can do a segment test on your instument cluster?.I have read posts on this forum about cluster failure.

Pretty straight forward job, although a bit awkward...and remember to get you tetanus jabs up to date as there are sharp bits under there and they bite !!!!! Put brake light switch in you search and all will be revealed. p.s When you get your switch ...dont be tempted to click it up and down as these are easily broken !!! Paul
