  1. By "Cup" I presume he means the gearbox end of the intermediate driveshaft on the off-side of the vehicle. Alternatives, Breakers Yard. Not a service item as it is a rigid shaft with a bearing in the middle and should be a lifetime item. Hence the long lead times.
  2. Check all the thin rubber pipes from the vacuum solenoids to the inlet pipes and turbo.
  3. Your not out of options, the fact that when the air was bled out of the fuel line the car started shows where the problem lies. The fuel pipe comes out of the tank, to the filter and from the filter to the pump. The pump draws the fuel up the pipe from the tank, through the filter and into the pump. So find the leak, bleed off the injectors and you will be fine.
  4. I would certainly be onto trading standards if I had spent a penny on a dealer repair that had not worked.
  5. It sounds like Ford have shafted you. The clue is the air in the fuel. Find where it is getting in and you will most likely have solved the problem.
  6. If you break a CV joint or the drive-shaft pops out the gearbox then you can put the car into gear without using the clutch because the syncromesh will speed the gearbox up. In higher gears the syncromesh is not able to get the gearbox up to speed at idle as there is too much drag in the higher gears. I still think this is going to be a drive-shaft related problem. It is certainly the place to start looking.
  7. Hub nut unscrewed and the drive shaft slipped out the splines? If you put it in gear with the engine running does either of the driveshafts turn where they leave the gearbox?
  8. It uses semi-synthetic, adding a small amount of mineral oil, whilst not ideal, won't really hurt.
  9. Drilling the hole is fine, just make sure you use a hole cutter, not a big drill bit as if a big drill bit snags you can crease the whole roof!
  10. I know there is after running pump on the V6 but I don't think there is on the 1.9tdi. Anyone know otherwise?
  11. Normally brake judder is warped disks. Do you do a lot of heavy braking and then keep the foot brake pressed down afterwards, like in stop-strat motorway traffic etc?
  12. You have to have hardened valve seats for the engine to run on unleaded petrol. For this reason most cars have had hardened valve seats since 1998.
  13. The best place for a DAB ariel is a bee-sting type on the back of the roof, it gives by far the best reception and is as far away from engine electrical interference as you can get. Just make sure you don't drill through the rear roof cross member and that the rear hatch door won't strike it when you open it. http://trevor.dynip.com/images/dabantenna1.jpg http://trevor.dynip.com/images/dabantenna2.jpg It is up to you whether you fit a mini-streetlight to the roof too.........
  14. Sounds more like a failed CV joint to me.
  15. Look on the clutch pedal, is there a switch? Remove the steering column shroud, is there a spare connector? Everywhere I have look suggests it is simply plug in and enable on the ECU. Some say that sometimes the ECU is already enabled.
  16. Sounds like either the pump or a blocked radiator to me. Does the bottom of the radiator get as hot as the top?
  17. Yes, the K&N is an oiled filter, the oil can get onto the hot film in the MAF and cause it to overheat and terminate it.
  18. That would be the parking light warning then.
  19. Check your vent temperature, it has recently been discussed Here
  20. GSF do brake friction parts by Brembo, Pagid & EBC etc. The only difference across the models appears to be if you have 16" wheels.
  21. There is no other way of fitting an after market tint apart from applying a film, and it can be fitted to the front side windows as long as it allows the correct level of light through! No, any stick on tint is now not legal. There is currently a sympathetic approach to enforcement to allow for existing stick on tinting films and that is the 75% transmission rule, but technically any stick on tint is illegal and it is an offence against Section 75 of the 1988 Road Traffic Act with reference to Section 41 (as amended)
  22. The graph is back, I had my server down for maintenance for an hour!
  23. R reg is a MK 1. The vacuum unit is in the drivers side front wing.
  24. No your not missing anything, but it is easier to remove the whole light assembly, it is only a few bolts. Do a search, it has been cover before, with diagrams.
