  1. My post was intended to offend, but only one person. Other than to that person I can only apologise. I am always quick to accept and help people. Even when someones first and only post is asking a question, and even if that question has been asked over and over again even of Aux Heater regularity. But when someone's 4th and 5th post are offensive and directly directed at an active long term member of this community, then the poster should expect to get flamed for it. I have used language that can be found any were, nothing that would need the 9pm watershed on TV, and the T shirt the bear has on is a "FCUK" An item that you can buy from a respected large retailer on most high streets in major towns. So again, sorry for driving anyone away, but I stand by my original post, If it is moderated then so be it, but I won't be editing or deleting it.
  2. Awww, don't go!
  3. Yep, always go for the MAF first, classic symptoms, do a search and you will find a host of information.
  4. I think he was a bit worried about his monkeys fouling it all up! His main concern seemed to be the ability VAG-COM gives you you set parameters outside the functionable limits. However that said, several places I know do use VAG-COM and it is on my shopping list.
  5. You want some good points? OK, how about: Indicators that work (you may need to get used to them.) Not getting automatically asked for your company fuel card at the filling station. People smiling and being polite and letting you out at junctions etc. Being able to use all the lanes on the autobahn and dual carriageway, not just the outside one. Not having to hang your suit jacket on the back grab handle. Not having all the other reps wave at you as you try to break the land-speed record on the local bypass People not stereotyping you as a total prick because you drive a BMW even though you come on here and behave like you are one. That enough for you? I always give someone the benefit of the doubt when they first post on an online forum and welcome them on board regardless. But with a post like the one above where you have taken the time to emphasise your foul language by using a large font size and bold type, then even I can make an exception and decide your input is unlikely to contribute to an online community such as this. http://trevor.dynip.com/images/bad-taste-bear-f-off-1(Small).jpg
  6. I recently spoke to a mechanic, ex-VAG factory trained and raised VAG-COM. He tells me it works fine, but would never be used in his (independent) VAG repair shop. He has the pukka VAG unit at the princely sum of
  7. With a twin filament bulb the filament can break at one end and drop onto the other filament and earth through there. When the lights are on the resistance is wrong, so you get the check lamp coming on.
  8. I never got the photo chap, nor any emails. I have looked at my Alhambra and don't have a clue what you are talking about. Sorry!
  9. I have a local automotive engineers near me who will re-true the commutator and fit new brushes for circa
  10. You say no problem with the top mount, but that and the arm bushes are the first place I would start to look.
  11. If the pipe is a big black hard plastic one, then the vacuum for the Variable Vane in the turbo is drawn from there. There should be a fibre-covered rubber hose from the vacuum solenoid valve to there. The valve is mounted on the bulkhead, straight back and slightly right to the plastic pipe. If you want you can email the photo to the_masked_marauder@hotmail.com and I can host it for you. If this info was of any help, then please can you click on the banner in my siggy! Thanks! Or click it anyway, it will cost you nothing!
  12. A chisle should part the two halves. The cat is made by CATCO and http://www.nationwide-catalytic-converters.co.uk/ have in the past got me a CATCO cat (not for a sharan/Galaxy/Alhambra, but give them a try)
  13. I was on about a different thread tbh, it's here http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...=4205&hl=melted
  14. I would refuse to pay for their incompetence! easy for me to say though! On the bright side, at least your valve train has remained intact.
  15. There is a junction box near the battery somewhere, someone had the same problem and the fault was a bad connection in there and it melted in the end. Someone help me guys, I can't remember all the details! Could just be the drive belt stretched and slipping though.
  16. Actually I spoke to a VAG mechanic on Saturday about the crank pully slipping and he said he has never heard of it happening. Anyone know if they have a woodruff key or if they taper?
  17. Aye, get an independent inspection done, it sounds like they are trying to shaft you.
  18. Could it perhaps be something to do with the turbocharger?
  19. This is mutiny I tell thee, we will all hang!
  20. Why only Galaxies? Does this not apply to Sharan and Alhambra derivitives too then?
  21. No, you can get them from elsewhere, but they are not cheap. More details HERE
  22. It is considered bad practice to post the same question in all the areas of the board btw.
  23. It is not hard, you just need time and to follow the instructions. To do the PD engine you also need some special tools. On the TIS, it is FORD GALAXY 2000.75, ENGINE 1.9 DIESEL, In Vehicle Repair, TIMING BELT
  24. [cough]Timing Chain[/cough]
  25. I think the maximum boost is about 21psi dropping to 15psi, but I could be (and often am) wrong. So thats a little over 1 bar at normal boost going upto about 1 1/2 bar at peak spike.
