  1. The torque is the issue. Torque and BHP are not the same thing, although they are related.
  2. Have you done it on a drive? It needs to be a quiet time of day though as it needs some steady driving.
  3. Yes, quite correct. The ribbed aux belt drives the alternator, water pump and aircon if fitted. The water pump pully drives the power steering by it's own Vee belt.
  4. Early versions have 3 belts!
  5. When I say take the dampers off, you might manage with just one bolt out of each.
  6. No, if it is high enough to get the wheel off then it is high enough to get the spring out. The damper prevents the trailing arm from traveling far enough for the spring to fall out on it's own. You may need to take both the dampers off to get the arm down far enough though. You unbolt them from the chassis before you jack the car up off the ground. If you can get the car high enough then you don't even need to take the wheel off..... Note that the car must me on the ground before you finish tightening the damper to chassis bolts.
  7. Yes, it is easy to fix both your self. With the car jacked up and the damper off there is little or no tension in the rear spring. You tell the spring type by the colour. If it is BLUE then it is Standard, YELLOW & WHITE is Sports and VIOLET is Heavy Duty
  8. So anyone who does not agree with your point of view is a freak then? There are people on mainland Europe (mostly Germans) who have done 100s of thousand clicks on bio with NO issues in their Sharans. And normally pump fuels contain NO bio unless the pump is marked otherwise. That is the requirement in law. If you find somewhere selling Diesel with a biofuel percentage then your in a minority, I have NEVER seen it in the UK.
  9. The cut on the tread is a simple attempt to get you to buy a new tyre. If it was dangerous then it would be a fail. As for the pads they could last ages yet. The crap that comes out the exhaust is often just that, crap that has built up in the exhaust system. That is why you should always thrash your diesel to the test centre.
  10. Just because you get higher scores than me, there is no need to go on about it....... I am NOT a sore loser.......
  11. Pah! Such foolishness! I have no time for games!
  12. If your talking about the parts then
  13. Usually the only pressure details on the the tyre is the maximum.
  14. The tyres should be marked with a size, e.g. 165.70.13
  15. What size and profile are they tyres?
  16. Do you like marshmallows? I will be bringing some to the regional meeting to toast on the fire!
  17. I don't see the need for this to be in two places, so I am going to join the threads together, this may make things a bit muddled, but bear with me!
  18. Were they liquorice allsorts? They could have been doing it, why blame the marshmallows?
  19. You can still buy Vesta ready-meals, and you will still still be hungry after you have eaten it! That is where Microsoft got their inspiration from but they made a real meal out of it......
  20. I would love to suggest somewhere............ But I can not as I don't trust anyone but myself to fix my cars. In my opinion the entire motor repair industry is run by crooks......
  21. Did the Scout offer to show you his woggle? And it is a caravan site too! How many caravaner's are there? You have your own sub-forum, yet where are you? Tonight I am mainly barbecuing a whole chicken as a trial run for when I cook on site! I WILL have my roast dinner!
  22. If the glass is moving then it needs re-sticking by a screen fitter as the rubber is only a trim, it does not actually hold the screen in. The rear screen will have to be removed to do this as a special silicon adheasive is used. Get a price first it could cost less for your glass insurace excess!
  23. Air con on and set to cold, engine running, you fill though the "low" or suction side. Thats the cold side with the fat pipe.... Nor surprise Alarm Man to hear of an air con guy saying the DIY kits should not be on sale.....
  24. I sincerely hope you get another 230K out of it! I was not surprised to hear it was just the turbo that needed done. You don't need much oil pressure to float the shells.
