  1. It is on the log book. Ask to see it.
  2. You do realise the VIN plate is not in the engine bay for this car? It is on the B piller inside the passenger side door.
  3. The correct proceedure for an airlock is to run the engine with the cap off the bottle until the rad fans come on.
  4. Where did you look for the VIN plate, it is against the law for a car not to have one.
  5. It could well do. But mine, if I top up to MAX it loses to about half way between Min and MAX then settles. I presume it is blowing out as steam round the cap.
  6. I'm sorry guys, but due to the strict enforcement of copyright rules the board can not condone this type of discussion and request.
  7. I was worried too, the only way you would get dry ice coming out the vents is if you crashed into a CO2 tanker.....
  8. As you are probably now aware it was nothing but water that had got into a connector somewhere. Once dry it should be fine, and it seems it is. I would only ever jetwash an engine if I knew every connector was sound.
  9. We shall expect a full write-up by Saturday morning then!
  10. I already have a set of MOs on my Astra GTE. They are super strong lightweight alloys.
  11. Yep, that could have been a disaster if it happened at 11am at night!
  12. Cool! MOs rock! They really are a proper rally wheel too, hard as nails, so should survive the UKs roads! If I had the cash I would have a set of MOs on mine.
  13. Did they say why the engine has to come out, thats not normal...
  14. A job I used to be involved in was founded in intelligence gathering. We had a saying. If it looks like a fish and smells like a fish, then you can bet it is a fish. So if it looks too good to be true and it smells too good to be true......
  15. Easy enough, look how the belt is routed, release the tensioner, remove old belt, put on new belt, re tension the tensioner.
  16. The belt has most likely stretched and needs replaced.
  17. It sounds like the drive belt is skipping on the power steering pump pulley. It is unlikely that you will do any damage.
  18. Yes, it must be reset using a device such as VAG-COM or the dealers equipment. Some indies have this kit now, ring round a few for a best price, it only takes 30 seconds to do, either that or meet me at the services at the A34/M4 on Saturday morning at about 9.30ish
  19. Have you got this? http://www.sealey.co.uk/pdfs/instructions/VS1245.pdf My TIS makes no mention of a belt holding tool PDTimingBeltChange.pdf You should never rely on the timing tools to hold things in place whilst you undo the bolts, it is not strong enough and was not designed for that purpose, use a proper pulley holding tool, they are a lot less to buy than having to replace your timing kit.
  20. This sounds more like a faulty engine managment temperature sender to me.
  21. Most of them deliver parts to indies, so if you ask nicely.....
  22. Damn, so quick too, yes it is indeed from Trumptonshire....
  23. Well in that case the suspicious git in me says tampered with! How old is the caravan? If it is a fairly up to date model then it will be an RCD breaker which should have tripped if the problem was pre-existing.
