Intermittent Starting Problems
Masked Marauder replied to Danny Barratt's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
Perhaps the battery was a bit flat if it had been stood a while before you got it or the soleniod was sticking from lack of use. If it is not broke now, why try to fix it? -
Thinking About Getting One......
Masked Marauder replied to a topic in Questions about the Ford Galaxy
What age of vehicle were you looking at? Diesels are the only version of the car worth having if you won't run a V6. Unfortunately for you they hold their value for just that reason. With the budget you suggest your probably going to have to settle for a 1998ish model unless you go for a high mileage car. -
Yes it works very well. It lost the signal in deepest Cornwall once but that is it, otherwise it has been perfect. The unit is a Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB 54 btw.

Intermittent Starting Problems

Are your battery terminals clean and tight? It sounds more like a bad connection than anything. -
Not FM, but I have mounted a "Bee sting" style DAB aerial on the rear of the roof. It was easy enough to do.

We Suspect The Maf Again?
Masked Marauder replied to smoggy7's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It looks right to me. -
I doubt the problem lies with the vacuum circuit, why would it have less vacuum after 70ish miles? Could be a lot of things though including the manifold pressure sensor. I think this one is a VAG-COM job.

I doubt it is a software issue. I would suspect the MAF is dodgey, you have tried everything else! -

It could be the matrix, but VR6s are famous for the thermostat housing leaking. -
Tuning Boxes - Any Good?
Masked Marauder replied to neilb's topic in Ford Galaxy Technical Section MK I MK II
It just increases the fueling by making the engine think it is running cooler than it is. A proper re-map is -
I agree, when you have paid you have done your share of the deal and feedback should be left. It is clearly so they can leave bad feedback if you do in the hope that you will agree to remove it. I bought a CV joint, 4 weeks later it had not arrived. I had spent two weeks trying to get a hold of the seller. In the end I left bad feedback: "Over a month and no CV Joint. No answer to emails, phone or Skype calls. Avoid!" And I got the following put as negative feedback against me: "Way to hasty to leave negative feedback. Watch out for him." So the seller was saying that hearing nothing for four weeks is hasty! And this is for a car part! Surprise, surprise a few days later he asks to mutually withdraw the feedback! Which out of principle I refused to do. It is not me that people need to watch out for.

The belt will always vibrate a little, as long as it is quiet and smooth you don't need to worry. -

Guys, be aware, this is a five month old thread! Worth a go though, he may still have the stuff. -
Unfortunately the feedback system does not take into account multiple purchases from sellers/buyers and has no respect to the value of the transactions. You can get great feedback scores by selling advice that you email for a penny etc. Then pretend to sell an expensive item and sucker them in....

Cheers mm i will ask him to have a go at mine then to see if he can stop the cc panel from flashing on start up ;) By the way what's the Dongle thing :( is it the lead :( Yes.

VAG-COM Dongles and software is a one part suits all system.
-
Yes, you don't need VAG-COM for that one, siezed compressor.

The extra load of the compressor is causing the belt to pull tighter. -
And a sticking flap would give a flashing display too. When the temperature is over 30 have an assistant operate the "Econ" button whilst you listen in the engine bay for the compressor clutch clicking on and off. VAG-COM? You would have saved a packet by now!

It is more complicated. One screw more complicated! There are two at the top and two at the bottom. Only loosen the bottom ones though, don't fully remove them or they will drop down and never be seen again! http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.ph...1&st=&p=entry
